I like your suggestions and will play around with my image to see how I can achieve some changes.
Thank you. |

What a great shot that holds my interest. The lighting is good, and the parts of the bird show clearly. There is great interest in the starfish I like the shadows the starfish makes on the belly of the gull. The only slight suggestion I have is to apply some dodging to the eyes to make them show a little more. |

I like the tree. I like the blue sky that your flash afforded, and I like the whites on the branches. There is good texture to it as well. Good luck in your competition. |

John, I think you have done a grand job of capturing the lake. Good foreground, leading lines, and good colors. In my opinion, the trees on the right side (land not water) are a bit too strong. I think they compete with the lake. I would suggest toning down the yellows a bit. |

Carol, I first notice the look in the horse's eye. Good capture of it. I like that he is running rather than standing still. The action adds to the image. I like what you have artistically done to the horse; however I wish there were not as much blur on the sides because that blur draws my attention away from the horse. I would like to see the original. |

What I like best is the bird's open mouth, as you say, singing its heart out. I also like the vegetation at the bottom, which seems to ground the image. I think the whole image could benefit from a bit more contrast between the Dickcissel and the vegetation. The top part of its head almost blends into the background. |

What a good opportunity presented itself, especially with such a pretty bird. What I notice is that the bird is not as sharp as it could be which has to do with camera/lens settings rather than processing. Because I am not good with photographing birds I wonder if one of our bird members would comment on the settings used. That would help me as well. |
