The colors are great as they are calm and peaceful. Yet the actual shot is full of activity. The reflection in the droplet keeps pulling my attention back to the center. The other left upper droplet is an added interest.
Fun shot; good shot.

Oh thank you for the last tips. I do not use mirror lockup but often use remote shutter release or 2 second delay. I am going back to the spot and try mirror lock up. |

Mike, I have little experience with sharpening. I seem to get it wrong. But I'd like to try your suggestion. When you sharpen what do you use? I have Photoshop, the NIK collection, and Topaz. Does any one of these work better than others? |

Then lowering the intensity of the clouds would help.
Good luck in your competition. Yours is a fine entry.
By the way, I forgot to mention that I noticed so many varying colors that take my interest to a different level. I can imagine this was a powerful emotion when you first came upon it. |

When I first opened the image it was larger than my screen. I scrolled down to see the rest and noticed how trimming the top improved what I noticed. You may wish to leave a bit more or less at the top but this is a general idea. |

Mike, what fun! Even though I know alligators don't smile both of these seem to be. What is very good about the image is that while the grasses are present, they don't dominate. That often happens in close up gator images. I would suggest going just a bit further and removing the 2 branches above the baby's face.
Bucket list well checked! A fun and fine shot.

I like the pairing of the spoonbills. They are among my favorite birds. I like the water droplets off the flying spoonbill and the reflection of the smaller spoonbill.
I don't know if it is camera settings or the distance you were from the spoonbills but the faces of the birds are a bit soft and feathers are not quite as sharp as your images usually are.

I like the force of the water juxtaposed with the calm of the tree branches. The water has many leading lines forcing your eye down. The bright spot of tree branch in the top left hints of the sun without being overexposed. The colors work well together.
My one suggestion is to coax a bit more color/texture out of the bottom left river water. I played with a vignette and levels. I suggest you use the method you prefer to see what you might like.

I smiled when I opened this screen, and I especially appreciate the mother tiger's face. There is such calm in it even though her baby is climbing all over her. I like her eyes which suggest a mother's acceptance of what her child is doing. I did not first notice the cub's moving arm. Since the mother is still, the image does suggest the cub's activity. The light coming from the right well highlights the image.
Shooting through zoo glass is hard and made even harder by the handprints with snow cone juice made by little children. Well done.

I agree with you about the sky. I noticed it before I noticed the falls. Then I trimmed the top of the image to just where the orange glow begins, and my eye went immediately to the glorious waterfall and flowing waters. How lovely that you were able to capture this vision. I thought the Palouse was mainly flat farm land. |
