68 Mar 18 Comment Yes it was fun. There were 2 guys running the engine. The main engineer seemed just to ring the bell and blow the whistle to let everyone know they were getting ready then he moved a handle to go forward and we set off. The other guy (whos name was Dean Martin no less) had the job of watching the pressure gauge to keep the steam up by controlling the amount of fuel oil to burn. He had the hardest job (but no shoveling coal now days). Mar 16th
68 Mar 18 Comment Spooky image! Looks to me to be more PS than a real image. Somehow, the shadows in the grass don't quite match and the skull seems to be illuminated from the left while the hands are illuminated from the right. But of course, that's what makes it real spooky and with the skull so high above the grass. Ready for Halloween next year! Mar 16th
68 Mar 18 Comment Nice image. Not much green in it. As far as competitions, that's completely up to the judges. I have got 1st place with one image and it wasn't even accepted in different exhibition. My comment would be that the background seems VERY cluttered and hard to decipher what it is. The tree does become the point of interest. In order to do good the focus has to be real good, but I can't tell on such a small image. So much for non-judge comments. Mar 15th
