I'm visiting because your image captured my eye when I was browsing creative groups. The picture-in-picture works quite well as do the warm colors mixed with the muted colors. The "model" is placed so that he does not block the drawing on the wall and it is pleasing to the eye. Your composition is balanced beautifully. Nice work! |

I agree about the textured doorway. I didn't touch it. The doorway photo was taken in Havana and looks much like too many doorways there. I agree with you about the raven's shadow and the need to lighten the raven a bit. I'll work on that. Thanks for your input. |

I like the lighter raven and the lighter hair on the old woman. Thanks for taking the time to show me these changes. |

I fell in love with surrealism as a teenager, especially Salvador Dali and Yve Tanguy both of whom used sparse, unnatural landscapes. As a young man, I discovered Nguyen Dinh Dang, a contemporary Vietnamese surrealist artist who also uses sparse, unnatural landscapes. I gravitate to this type of landscape so that the focus of the image is more central. June's entry will also be a departure from the sparse landscape. I was afraid the raven was too subtle so I titled the image "Nevermore" hoping to evoke Poe and give some notice to the raven. |

I saw the image without the rain in your reply to Kirsti and personally, I feel it's a big improvement. Even closer to Wyeth now! |

I agree with you about images that include forests. It always hurts me to crop trees. |

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed this image. The raven is a work in progress. He has been smaller, bigger, darker, lighter, etc. I'll see what I can do about making the head lighter. I didn't consider any shadows for this image. I feel there is enough mood as it is. |

"Blended" is the key word. This is another of your masterful jobs of blending pertinent elements from different images to make a new, eye-catching image. It seems that Aristotle said "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts." This certainly applies here. One can feel the power and the movement of the water next to the outcrop of rock. Nice work! |

You and Brad are the master blenders. I'm signed up for a blending webinar May 8, so maybe I'll take more chances with blending. You used so many steps to make the colors work so well, and the composition is very well balanced. I'm afraid that old bug-a-boo about bright areas applies here especially in the center of the image which keeps the eye from enjoying the sky and the arc at the bottom. It's worth revisiting. |

You must be a fan of the American painter Andrew Wyeth for your country images mirror some of his best work. Without the rain and the umbrella, this could be Christina's neighbor ("Christina's World" is perhaps Andrew Wyeth's most famous painting). The girl, the marvelous tree, the animals, and the barn work together very well. For my taste, I would take out the rain and crop the top and bottom a bit. I'm a big Andrew Wyeth fan, and you certainly have his country perspective. |

You certainly have a good idea here. The girl peeking from behind the tree is precious, and the spirits dancing on the boulder captivates the girl in a believable way (for those of us who believe in spirits). The blue hue is a good choice for a nighttime walk in the forest. I've taken the liberty to crop your image so the main part of the image is front and center. Nice work. |

The reflection comes as a wonderful, clever surprise. You have blended it in beautifully. The sailboat seems to be a device to pull the eye away from the reflection adding to the effect of the surprise and works very well. The rocky coast adds just the right amount of texture. Well done! |
