Jerry, I use Topaz in my work, but you didn't narrow down which part of Topaz you used for this delightful image. Please let us know. |

Your feedback is appreciated and echoes what has been said above. There's a lot to think about. As I said to Jan, I'll revisit this next July. |

Thanks for your suggestions. Even though the mayor is in the spotlight, because of my predilection for the founding father's focus on posterity, I wanted the attention to be on the founding fathers' ghosts, hence no buildings. I'll revisit this next July. |

I agree with you about the flags. It's amazing what one doesn't notice about his/her own work. I'm torn about the empty upper portion. Crop is the mantra of my camera club, but sometimes cropping leaves the image in a proportion I'm not comfortable with. I lean toward the golden rectangle which was used to achieve balance and beauty in many Renaissance paintings and sculptures. (That's my art history background influencing my composites.) |

Thanks for the tip about the screen blending mode. |

The colors are wonderful. As an avid bird photographer who spends so many hours trying to capture birds in focus while in interesting situations, it's difficult for me to relate to the images in this composite. I'm so attuned to realism when it comes to birds. But I do love the colors. |

I just love the cartoon effect of this composite. Aren't we lucky we have digital cameras. We can take all the pics we want. The only filters you used were detail extractor and Oil Paint. I never get detail extractor to look like this. Was Oil Paint in PS? Was it applied after detail extractor? I can't wait to change my grandchildren into cartoons. |

I agree this is a lovely image of your granddaughter. Looking back at your June image of the moon, this composite lacks the punch that the June composite has. Perhaps, it's because, as Steve says, the image of the granddaughter needs more contrast. Cudos to your granddaughter for agreeing to have her picture taken while she is wearing braces. |

What a powerful image. You have split the face beautifully--if I can use that word. I am a "less in more kind of person." I agree with Denise that the left side of the face is awkward. I feel the face would have much more impact if you just have one split. The one down the middle of her nose does the trick. Time well spent! |

I must have missed the last piece of street from the mayor's shoe. I didn't want the mayor to be too dominant. I wanted the ghosts of the founding fathers to remind us that we are the posterity for whom they selflessly wrote the Constitution. |

Betty, you've done a nice job extracting the images, but they somehow don't seem to fit together. Perhaps because this seems like a set. My wife and I always know when we're watching a movie that is supposed to take place in New York City that it's not New York. New York City, even on film, has an "attitude." Reality in this composite doesn't seem to come through. Maybe Aavo's suggestions would help. |

Original 1, for me, is an example of if-it-ain't-broke-don't-fix-it. That's the kind of shot that takes the viewer right to Bodie Ghost Town. |

You have a beautiful sky in Original 2 and a powerful silhouette in Original 1. Each stands nicely on its own. I agree with Betty. The elements don't seem to come together too well. |

I agree with you about the space at the top. I guess my focus was elsewhere. I'm glad you like the image. |

My wife and I will be in FL this January. Perhaps we can take a walk through Wakodahatchee. I hope you're an early riser. |

This is not the forum for a discussion of this nature. My fault for raising the issue. However, I see from your Bio that you live in Boynton Beach. Every time my wife and I visit my mother-in-law in WPB, I spend a lot of time photographing birds at Wakodahatchie. I arrive when it opens to get the best light and have taken some wonderful photos of bird mating rituals, nest building, and adults feeding their young. |

I agree with Ed and J. that this photo tells a story, but having been to Cuba, I must disagree with Stephen. This picture does not tell the story about the life of the people any more than a photograph of a derelict in Harlem tells the story of the life of the people in the United States. AS for the technical aspect, I feel that making the photo darker would add to the story of this man, especially the triangle of light in the lower left. Very good street shot. |
