The drop I'm suggesting is the one that is on the leaf above the rock. |

Thank you for your careful observation. I decided against giving the characters shadows because there are so many different light sources I felt that shadows would call attention to the variety of light sources. |

The dominating eye and it's accompanying catch-light are mesmerizing. Hiding the eyebrow with the leaf enhances the eye's dominance. I agree with Phillipa and Peggy that the veins and the pink color work very well. There's one area that is distracting. The judges in my camera club consistently do not like bright white without detail in a photo/composite because it attracts the viewer's eye. I feel this excellent composite would be better served if you cloned out the large drop directly above the white area in question while moving the splash to the left so that it is more centered below the drop above the splash. This composite is evidence of time well spent. |

The vines and the iguana are eye-catching in spite of the dominance of the fountain. They have a touch of magical realism, a desirable characteristic and not always easy to achieve. The fountain spoils the dark mood you so successfully created, is too bright, and draws the viewer's eye away from the magical realism in the composite. Also, the fly is too sharp. The Gaussian blur filter in Photoshop can solve that problem easily. A catch-light in the iguana's eye would add tremendously to this beautiful creature. There's a lot of potential here. |

The colors in all of the examples are beautiful, and please forgive me for being direct, but I do not see the suggestion of a forest or any hint of a secret. Abstract art implies characteristics of the original person, place, or thing that is being abstracted. An abstract image of "rust," by definition, would suggest the shape of the object that is rusty. I find that rusty objects can be beautiful and have photographed them over the years. Perhaps your original rusty object has some potential as a rusty abstract object. |

There is no suspense if one does not know the monster is present in the house. There is only fright when it makes a sudden appearance. I, too, did not see the faces before reading the description. As a result, I did not feel the mood that the faces could have created. In addition, for me, the leaves are too bright. One more suggestion if I may: the cat looks pasted into the scene because the edge of the cat is too sharp. Try feathering the edges or using the blur tool that is grouped with sharpen and smudge in Photoshop. There's a lot of potential here. |

I agree with Aavo. This composite is "moody and mysterious." However, I do not see the composite as telling a story. For me, a story removes the mood and the mystery as a story has a beginning, a middle, and an end, in other words an explanation. In addition, I am not bothered by the transparency of the man, who, without seeing the original, could be coming TOWARD the viewer. Enjoy the mood and the mystery. |
