I've written comments as a reply to your feedback on my composite. More on drawing the room when I get to my computer and keyboard. |

The chess player, the boy, is standing between innocence (the "happy apple") and loss of innocence (the woman). The woman is looking into the room through the window, what voyeurs do to women. The Muslim looks disapprovingly across the room at the woman. The shadows all come from different light sources, a natural occurrence in the surreal world of art. And are the distant mountains a picture or a picture window? |

"Arrangement in Gray and Black No. 2" is the title of a painting everyone calls "Whistler's Mother." I don't believe I can take a photograph of "Whistler's Mother," use Photoshop filters to colorize it and posterize it, and call the final photo my original artwork. Whistler put his mother in the chair in the painting in black and gray. It's for this reason that everything in my composites comes from my own photographs--except of course for the gradient shading in various places and a visit or two to TopazLabs. |

Having lived thru a frigid Dec/Jan in NJ where 15 degrees was the daily high temp, this looks like old man winter! Plastic Wrap on the trees looks like ice! But it works well as ice. The swirl leading to the face could well be the snow storms that accosted us weekly and are still at it. The only problem I see is the PlWr on the wheat. For some reason it doesn't work as well there as it does on the rest. In any case, I'm in FL as I type, so this may look different in a week or so. |

I don't want to be negative, but my camera club disqualifies a competition entry that is a photo of someone else's artwork. I support this policy. As this is a Creative PID group, I feel we need to stretch ourselves without the use of another's work--except as inspiration. I hope this doesn't sound harsh. It's not meant to be. I'm sure your work with channels will lead you to another creative level. I should do more with Channels, but it drives me crazy. |

I'm not home and am using iPad to type. I don't type well on a keyboard! Second half of above reply should have been after your comment on my entry. |

Thank you for your feedback. An interim clarification: the woman in the mask (NYC Halloween parade) is looking into the room through a window. The apple is "Happy Apple," a musical plastic apple my sons played with in their crawling ages. Now my grandson is playing with their "Happy Apple." More later. |

The feathers and the eye make this "painting" something special. I enjoy exploring Topayz plug-ins. I like to make a painting of main focus and place it back in realism of original. Might work for this wonderful bird.
I have been working in creating surrealistic composites, of which this is one. If you have time, look at some of my past entries. You will feel the same disequilibrium you feel here. Disequilibrium is a major component of surrealism. I will comment more later on this composite after others have responded. |
