Linda -if the original is in better focus, then I believe you should leave it alone, with the exception of removing the birds. I love this image and I think that if the original is how you like it, any further "improvements" will not enhance it. :) |

Bev - your applications are very good... I like them. I think that what I was going for in this image was a softer feeling because the flower "spoke" softly to me. (if that makes any sense at all...:0) I will try to play with Topaz, as it seems to be a program that will be beneficial to me. Thank you for your improvements - I do like them! |

Margaret, I believe I did put a vignette on this image, which did make the bottom out of focus. I found the original, and the flower and the bottom were in focus. |

I find this image fun! I think the vibrancy of the colors of the band mates in Bev's version are better, but I am a bit distracted by the sharpness of the right side and the lack of sharpness on the left. I also like the sky better in the original - I think Bev's is a bit too bright, but that is only my humble opinion. It is a great image with regard to the band leader's expression. Good job in capturing that! |

The image is very dramatic! I love the way you enhanced the colors - it is MUCH better than the original. However, I am a bit distracted by the fact that the trees are not in focus. I like the reflections in the water - if you have seen any of my work, I do tend to be drawn to reflections. In a reflection, I can understand that something will be out of focus because it is, in fact, a reflection, but the trees in this case are not a reflection. I am just a bit distracted by that. I am also distracted by those little black dots in the cloud. Are they birds? Is there something on your lens? I would take those out. I do love the overall feeling of the image. It is lonely, yet inviting at the same time. I want to go there! Good job overall. |

I like the contrast between old and new. I, too, find the white car a bit bright, but I think in this instance, it has to be. The image tells a terrific story about progress. I would crop off just a bit more on the right side, just to balance the image out. There seems to be too much space behind the car - just my opinion. I do like the way Bev enhanced the horse - he was a bit too dark in comparison to the white car. If there is a way to tone down the BRIGHT white, that would be ideal. Great eye, Margaret...the old and new comparison is terrific. |

I love this image in black and white. Without seeing the original in color, I can say that I don't think it would have the impact it has in black and white. That said, I agree about the three dots. I did find them distracting the minute I saw the image. I do like this image very much, it is absolutely clear and sharp, and it tells a sad story about the steel industry. Abandonment is always interesting subject matter to me. I like to imagine the image in its "hey day" and compare it to what it is now. I like the contrast, very well done. I would not do anything at all with the exception of removing the cloud dots. |

I agree with Stuart about the 'straightening" issue, but I like the exposure of Bev's original work better. I feel that Stuart's version is a bit washed out, but that is only my opinion. The subject matter is terrific! The image evokes a myriad of emotions, all of which stem from destruction. Was this a result of neglect? Was it a bombing? The image is very interesting, I could stare at it all day. As far as any "improvements", the only thing I would suggest is straightening it, but from what Bev said "it was how it was taken", I will leave it alone. Bev - WELL DONE! I love it! |
