I believe I cropped it because of the background but with smudge I can give it a little more room. But still want to try to keep eyes close to that upper right third. Might be alble to work a print standard. |

Agree on the great image and also like Cindy's modifications. Only other thought I would have is whether toning down the white fence helps or not. Really like the simplicity of the engine. |

Agree with mono potential. Great contrast between the curtains and peeling paint on the siding and window trim. Ever think about a square image with window dead center? Great powerful image.
Hoping we are all staying healthy. |

On the color image, I like the warmth and color of the wood dash trim and the worn cane steering wheel. I also like the small old style wind screens (not seen much except at local concours) and kind of lost in the vignetteing. Like the dash with the choke knobs we fortunately don't need. Also like the reflection of the steering wheel in the dash mirror and the tiny accelerator. Any merit in toning down the "door" on the side panel (can see through the steering wheel? Great interesting image. |

I think I like the color primarily with the bland sky. But I could easily imagine the mono winning out with some strong cloud formations (maybe oncoming storm for a ghostly mood)? Great masonry and window details really makes the mono stand out. |

Great shot. On the railing, I'm wondering if some cropping on the right would help keeping the eye from going "under the arch"? Also Cindy commented on a PS tool on my image that might tone down the railing detail and color.
I can also see the noise in the smoke. I recently got a DQ on an image where sharpening/detail extraction caused distortion of asphalt racing surface so I am watching that. Also saw an article in recent PSA magazine about "jpeg" size and its impact on the image. He discussed using PS masks to decrease image jpeg size to fit competition rules while retaining image quality. Lot to learn. |

I like the darker sky. I also like the subject but also wish you had more people/cars to enhance the story as Cindy notes and provide some visual balance with the calm sea. Great interior details. |

Like it. How do you compare it to the recent "texturing" technique in LR that Matt K has been talking about? Unfortunately "working" from home so time for experimenting limited. Need to organize. |

Phil - agree with the crop suggestions even if you get too narrow a pic. |

Brenda - Nice action image. I'd like to suggest trying 1/500 sec max and 400 iso to bring that f-stop lower and have a shallower depth of field which will help with the background. Also keep thinking "crop" to focus on the action and, if you are trying for prints, adjusting the crop for a standard print size for some of the other parents. Keep shooting (at least I hope we all can soon). |

Got to agree with Hans and Bruce. Loss of the innocence of the past. Good simple image. And if I can be sarcastic for a moment someone needs to remind the ump behind the plate about social distancing. |

Agree with Hans. Should do well in both. Face/expression in full view almost in the top right quad (I think you could crop a little on the right without hurting image (your choice). I like that sun being on the left to add emphasis to face. |

Great image Bruce. Great expressions and DOF. Also high class soccer. Like the square crop. |

Like your DOF (spectators blurred and none of them in a bright distracting color). Too bad 14 blocked face of player with scrum cap. Also looks like the 2.8/300 a popular lens combined with a full frame camera. I shot the Nikon D500 (cropped frame) and Df (full frame) but recently my 2.8 300. I am now looking for a replacement, maybe the 200-500 but f-stop is 5.6. Maybe rent first.
I'm hoping to get some amateur rugby in fall and racing in summer but not wagering on the rugby (maybe Fall). Have to look up the German League. We can get English league here. |

Welcome Hans and thanks. I have to check if I cropped it too tight and recover the wheel. Alsop appreciate if you go back to January round and give me your thoughts on the "Oh Oh" rugby shot. I can see from your shot (just as we see from Bruce's "football" shots) that the US competition level in these two sports is below what you can find in Europe - but maybe not intensity. |
