Yes it is two different images. I should have included that in my notes. I included the color picture to illustrate the bland green curtainwall color.

To me the bird is a very small element of the picture. You might also want to crop top and bottom. |

I think I'd try Paul's thought to minimize the sky because of the strong texture of the ship. Mixed feelings on the left side cropping - not sure the red tug would distract. |

Nice portrait. You may want to try a version with a further crop since to my eye the uniform strongly says firefighter versus the equipment on the truck. Could also see if you would like a version with vignetted corners |

A plus is taking the crowd out of the image. Not sure if cutting the one defense man partially out will distract some judges.
I haven't seen a lot of basketball images in PSA PJ exhibitions so I'm not sure how this will do. You might want to check out SI NCAA finals to see what SI thinks sells. NBA is probably different - tattos, close quarters, emphasis on players size.
Color, also no idea. Again I haven't seen a lot in exhibitions. |

Thanks Jeff. Had selected this one over option 2 so I could rid of the warming-up skater and spectators background. I might try an image for mono and color that does do the editing including the taking the warm-up skater and his reflection out. |

I'm not sure why but image doesn't have much color or clarity - I've seen this picture. For the image displayed, I'd try and crop out the background top and front. I'd think of entering in "color" so you can edit out the blue trash barrel or see if the barrel disappears in mono. The blurred legs is a new idea I like. |

When I first looked at the image I wasn't sure what I was seeing. I'd try Jeff's suggestions to simplify the image. Also I'd consider a blank background. Very interesting attempt - I've never tried this. |

Have to agree with your assessment that accept unlikely. Local paper usually does a lot of high school girls softball and focuses on pitcher wind-up/delivery from behind catcher, ball in flight shots and tagout action (hopefully with dust flying). I also don't think fencing (back stop?) would be that noticeable if action got viewers attention. Was surprised to see mask on a player other than catcher. |
