Love this image and the detail you captured on the toadstools. Your handling of the conversion to B&W is great with the darkening around the edges that helps ones eyes to focus on all the viewable detail. I also feel the color version is well worth showing. |

You handled the editing and cropping of this image well. The colors of the adult and chicks are good, as well as the dried vegetation of the nest. The catch light in each chicks eye helps to better distinguish the heads from the rocks. If anything I would like to suggest to try and create some separation between the birds and the rocks of the cliff but that might be difficult as they are very close in together. |

Wonderful mom and baby. I think your choice and handling of the B&W is good. I also feel the monkey on the right could be removed as the hand on the ground is a little blurred and the monkey does not add to the story. You have a wonderful image of the mom and nursing baby with fantastic eyes with good catchlight. You could go a little farther and remove the two prominent pieces of grass in the foreground. |

Nice image and nice handling and editing of the image. Colors and tones have been handled well. My only suggestion might be to mute the background a small amount to create a separation between the spires and the mountains/cliffs background. This is especially true for the large spire on the right side. |

Sharon, Nice capture. I like the detail presented with the wet cattle egret and the rain in the background. The tree also has good detail and all colors look correct and realistic. I feel that this image is a little above the normal (if there is such a thing) bird image. As you know with all the new camera technology the judges are looking for more uniqueness and different images. I feel that this image might be considered a throw in to see what the judges see and feel the day of scoring. Yes it is above the old normal of a bird submission but for judging purposes I feel it is on the questionable threshold. |
