I live in Cape Coral the capital of burrowing owls. I love shooting them especially when the chick start emerging from the burrows. I like the image as you had the patience to wait and capture this one in flight and that is pretty rare. Great sharpness and clarity in the owl and those popping yellow eyes. We have been noticing over the past couple of years the appearance of a lot more burrowing owls with black eyes and have to look harder for those with those amazing yellow eyes. Nice image and great processing. |

I have to agree with Mike that I feel that too much of the lavender color is lost in the upper left due to the super bright background of the sky/clouds. There also appear to be several blossoms just floating in the air in the bright background. The colors and definition in the center part of the tree are wonderful and I feel that the rest of the tree should maintain this beauty. |

Nice Catch - no pun intended. This image is a great story and Mike's suggestions are pretty good. The first thing that caught my eye was the magenta coloring on the adult bears legs. The other thing catching my eye was the adults paw on the rock with the salmon. This appears to have way too much magenta/purple as compared to other salmon meat I have seen. But, catching an image such as this is always exciting. I also used Photoshop - Adjustments - levels - options - dark and light to try and enhance the image a bit. |

Ally, I love the Outback as there is so much more there than rocks and dirt if one takes the time to look. I have to agree with Sharon and Mike with some work this could be a much better image. I just copied and played in Photoshop quickly with dehaze, shadows and highlights, and levels/options/enhance Monochromatic Contrast - and adjusted the sliders to come up with this. I'm not sure it works with your vision but I thought it added some pop to the image. |

Wonderful image and I believe your cropping job was masterful in presenting this image as it shows how/why the shadows on the adults neck were formed. I have to agree with the other comments on the bright spot on the left side of the nest as it is distracting and catches my eyes attention. I can not think of another helpful suggestion for that area other than what has been previously suggested though. The nest with the lichens, mosses and leave pieces are also another great part of this story with the masterful work the hummingbirds put forth in creating the nest as every piece has its place. Love the story. |

Sharon, I love cattle egret colors during mating season. The yellows, reds and purple lores as well as the reddish / pink legs and brownish crown and chest plumbs are really striking to me. I like the position of the one flying in with a stick for the nest. I do find however that the back bird that is not so colorful looks a little soft throughout the whole head and shoulder area as it is usually difficult to be perfectly sharp when the birds are on two different planes. I feel the original image submitted is of a better quality. I also like the nice color and tonality contrast between the birds and the evergreen background. |
