49 Oct 19 Comment As Alan said this is probably a good scrapbook image from your trip but not spending a lot of time trying to make it competition worthy. I sure you have many other images from your trip that you would be better off spending time on. Oct 25th
49 Oct 19 Comment From a wildlife photographer I think you did a pretty good job. You learn by stepping out of your comfort zone. Your detail is pretty good - water dripping from bill - and splatters of water droplets all add. I tried ColorEfex 4 and tried to enhance the back's feather details. I also used the healing brush to remove some distracting pieces of grass in the foreground in the water. Oct 25th
49 Oct 19 Comment I like this image and you had much better lighting than my trip there. I agree with Alan in that the sky (horizon level) is a little too bright. Other than that I would not change a thing. Oct 25th
49 Oct 19 Comment I tried playing with this image in many ways and I couldn't find a solution. I think you should have pushed the ISO way up to help compensate for the light so you could shoot at at least 1/60 second and preferably 1/100 second with the aperture open all the way. You included none of this information in your description. Oct 25th
49 Oct 19 Comment I agree that your choice of B&W was correct and with what Alan has said. The other thing I noticed were the legs that appear to have fine noise so I used Imagenomics (weak noise) to remove the noise and give a smoother look to the legs. Oct 25th

52 Oct 19 Comment I have trouble with this image. I find the lack of detail in the monkey makes the image very blah to me. Some others have suggested a silhouette type image and I have to agree. I even thought that inverting colors might enhance this image (it is different). Oct 25th
52 Oct 19 Comment Great detail in the picture from the cicada's wings to the cracked mud with sand specs showing through. I think this image reminds us that nature is not always living colorful, vibrant and alive. Oct 25th
52 Oct 19 Comment Like this image a lot. Great detail from splashing water from the fish to great feather detail on the great blue. I wouldn't change a thing. Oct 25th
52 Oct 19 Comment I can easily see why you chose this crop. In looking closely at the image there appears to be a pixelization surrounding the antenna of the butterfly. I think the crop might have been too tight causing this effect. I also played with colorefex 4 and was able to darken the background and enhancing the color a bit. Oct 25th
52 Oct 19 Comment To my eye I find the original has more pop and color detail. Your edited version appears a little too washed out. We take what we can get when making long trips but I think an earlier or later arrival time would have helped immensely. I often shoot at 640 or 800 ISO but compensate with aperture and shutter speed which were not mentioned in the description. Oct 25th
52 Oct 19 Comment Sharon,
First CONGRATULATIONS on the honors listed in the new PSA Journal.
On this beautiful image I am wondering why you chose not to use DEHAZE to help detail some of the background walls with a little more detail?
