49 Jun 19 Reply Our club uses the PSA guide lines. The rules you stated apply to nature. But I am of the feeling that those rules should apply to ALL PHOTOGRAPHY. There are too many manipulations allowed and now with all the digital programs anything can be corrected and most images are far away from what was actually taken. Let the original tell your story. 49 Jun 19 Reply I thought PSA allowed any manipulation of photos in all categories except nature. Or does your club have it's own special rules? Jun 23rd
49 Jun 19 Comment Showing my wife your image and she thought the center portion of the picture was too dark. I took it into camera raw and reduced shadows. I also think that brought out details in the Duomo Jun 19th
49 Jun 19 Reply Thought about your comments. I removed the lily pads to make it a pano and darkened the remaining water as suggested.
Your thoughts now?

49 Jun 19 Comment I agree with Alan. You have great feather detail but some of that detail in the head and throat area is lacking. Jun 19th
49 Jun 19 Comment Great night image. a few nit picks. There are 2 cranes visible - Lower left and middle left side side. I would try to eliminate those. Also there are several random lights in the mountains/hills. I think there are to few to suggest other homes.villages and would also eliminate those Jun 19th
49 Jun 19 Comment Very interesting image. To my taste the upper portion of the face on the girl looks too ghostly almost like she is dead and does not blend well with the rest of the skin tones. Jun 19th
49 Jun 19 Comment I have to agree with the background comments and a different aperture setting might have helped in bring the back 2/3rd of the image into a better focus. those girls appear to be soft the farther back you go. Jun 19th
49 Jun 19 Comment An interesting OLD gate. You can see all of the old paint build up on the iron rails. I have to agree with Alan that the upper portion background does distract from the image. The night/ darkness does add a mystique to the image. Jun 19th
49 Jun 19 Comment I like the natural look. Did a good Job with the filter. I agree that the left side appears to be a little bright. I tried to darken a bit using Nik Color Effects 4 and the wnt to levels and increased them a bit. Jun 19th

52 Jun 19 Comment Another great capture. You brought out the detail on the Black Skimmer masterfully. I think capturing them with both wings visible is great as I usually see the just gliding above the water. I agree that your choice of crop is good but to me the bottom is a little too busy with all the heads and beaks fighting for attention. Jun 19th
52 Jun 19 Comment A fun image. I like the foot and the way the tail s around the back of the squirrel to give it balance. I feel the face and eye are a little soft as presented and would like to see a little more definition in the white belly (but getting that definition is usually hard on white objects). Jun 19th
52 Jun 19 Comment Love this capture of the pair of Yellow Crowned Night Herons. Very natural and shows the true nesting experience. 5 eggs if the all hatch will keep these two quite busy. My only concern is that I would have liked to see an eye in either one a little more in view and fuller but that is the split second timing that nature gives us. I think the colors, tones, and clarity are sharp and very natural. Jun 19th
52 Jun 19 Comment The classic great blue heron pose. I like your choice of crop and the flipping of the image. I also think the head region is a little soft and should be a little brighter especially in the eye region. There is also a single strand of grass from the next little island that need to be eliminated (middle right side). The reflection of the head and grasses add to the overall image. Jun 19th
52 Jun 19 Comment This is a wonderful image but I feel the original image appears much more real. I used a program called Imagenomics and the default settings for weak noise. I feel that much of the graininess if the stepped plateau has disappeared and helped the sky appearance. Either way this is a fabulous sunset. Jun 19th
52 Jun 19 Comment I like the brightness and clarity that you were able to bring out on the image despite loosing such a large portion of the image through cropping. Mike's suggestions seem to brighten it a little more and an area of concern might be the back wing upper portion as John stated but on the other hand that does seem to indicate motion of these fast moving little birds.
