I wish that you had sent in the sooc so we could see...
I love playing with mirrored images, symmetry, polar coordinates, etc. and even though you don't remember all of the steps, the end result works well.
I can see Mr Magoo, but more an owl. |

I like your editing a lot, it does make the image look more natural and more artisitc at the same time.
I agree with Brian that some selective sharpening might make the deer pop more. |

what a great concept, good story and great previsualization!
I love how your son is in the distance -- good story that has is far into his journey into adulthood. Adding the mountains shows challenges that lie ahead.
I find the flare a tad bright.
I like Nadia's color blending |

The bokeh is wonderful. You did a good job with the sooc version of this female cowbird. I like it flipped, it reads well left to tight, but it is hard that the birds head is turned away. I try to wait until the bird looks more my way.
The sooc was underexposed and you edited it well, but try to ETTR (expose to the right) in camera |

Wow, you have done a lot with this, seeing the sooc version and the cropping and good editing that was done. The borwn tones are great. The little bird, puffed up is wonderful.
To improve: a little more contrast at the head area, looks a tad washed out and remove the branches intersecting with the bird. |

I like the dripping water!
Wonderful catchlight and anlge of the head.
Great capture, lighting and cropping really make the image pop.
To improve: highlights are blown out in some of the feathers removing detail, watch for exposure of white birds. |

Sad story, great image.
The lighting and timine are impecable.
I typically use a more wide open aperture (f4-f5.6) depending on how far away the bird is.
I used lens blur in ACR and then also masking and reducing texture and clarity in ACR. I flipped it so you read left to right, see the bird with the egg, then the wings, and are led back to the egg. |

The camera angle is delicious, allowing us to really feel the bird at it's eye leevel, wonderful! It is amazing how much more engaging a bird image is at eye level compared to when taken at our height!
The splashes as the bird feeds is icing on the cake!
To improve, I added a linear gradient in ACR, tones down whites and highlights and added a litle blue. Then in PS I duplciated the layer 3X changed those layers to screen, placed them in a group, black mask on the group and masked in the catchlight that was there. |

Good use of taking a common subject and making it into a portrait. You have gotten eye level with the bird, whces it a much more intimate portrait.
To improve: the white balance is very cool and the whole image, including the bird and there are reeds between you and the bird. |
