I used stram brushes (some home made and some purchased). I am always looking to make my own brushes. I looked through all of the images taken that day and saw steam pouting and floweing all over in the various photos.
I cropped to add canvas to the top.
Selected Brush and eye dropper to get the color. I selected 7the steam "color" from the existing steam and then used a different brush each time until all of the distracting elements were gone. |

grittier might indeed have popped, but I would have needed to do that before I added the textures. |

What a powerful image you have created! It has a lot of drama
From a compositing point of view there are halos around the eagle, try new layer, change the blend mode to darken and clone around the edges.
From a compositionalo point of view there are some distracting bright areas and the bright log on the right leads out eye out of the frame. |

I like the symmetry and the two different "you"
Perhaps remove the white birds and just leave the one black bird
I like the concept of the girl, but the sharpness and lighting are off a tad.

Thank you for the details description of the first and subsequent attempts.
The yellow and blue are wonderful together.
I enjoy the filter distort (little planet) and it works well the the circular glass.
The texture on the background seems a little busy/distracting to the overall pleasant scene. |

The behind the scene details helps, as the darker trees seem ominous after the fire.
I do feel that the shadows have a lot of blue-cast. |

the rocks and trees flow nicely
The tone mapping is good
more texture/contrast in the rocks would add to the scene |

What a great scene, love the detailed description of the blend and sky. The extra time was worth it as the tones are lucious. The white lighthouse looks bl;ue to me, perhaps a clor blend mode later or a warm lugin filter just for the building. |

there are programs with monthly fees and programs with regular upgrades -- digital was supposed to be cheaper than film, lol |

I saw ghost town and was expecting to see a HDR with deghosting off and a person aka ghost LOL
good blend, cool red and green lights. The sidewalk looks a little blue to me... |

wow, there so many lines I did not even attempt their removal. There is supposedly a phone app that you click remove lines and they are gone, but PS doesn't have that. Definitely better w/o the times.
a little more contrast does seem worthwhile, thanks |

Getting a woodpecker with wings lifting off is hard, so kudos.
Please supply the SOOC (straight out of the camera image) so we can see how much cropping was done and what sort of editing.
The lens is not a typical focal length for birds, so perhaps try photo enhance (within ACR or LR) to increase the size and then crop in |

This is wonderful, vibrant and good detail for such a large crop (no Adobe enhance or gigapixel used?) . Red birds have such a pull, and this little one has lots of feather detail and charisma.
2016 image, question -- was it edited using 206 tools or 2024 tools? I find when I edit an older fle with today's tools it looks better.
I like the slight title of the capture rather than the straightened version (screen capture from the SOOC versiot for editing purposes but showing the tilt) |

The concept is wonderful, with the bird and the reflection and you have the foot action and added the splash. Such cute little plovers, perhaps just sit and wait for them to come to you so that they fill the frame.
Birds always seem larger in the frame when I take the image, then so small when I get back to the computer. Ge and wait for them to come by (they will)
I would suggest setting up a grid in your camera and only photograph when the subject fills a certain percentage of the screen.
Cropping this much (98% crop?) just doesn't leave enough pixels to play with, that is why there are no details. Perhaps try Topaz Gigapixel and see if it can do a huge upscale so you have pixels left to play with. |

Thank you.
I don't disagree about the crop, but since I had already cropped some I was trying to leave some negative ss for the flight. I can make it a little tighter. |
