Interesting image. The pears are sharp and the background is blurry where it needs to be. Only 2 suggestions, cutting of the tops of the needles on the top is a distraction, and I would tone down the background especially on the bottom. The bottom is the first thing my eye went too because it is the brightest spot in the image. |

A great example of creatively creating a subject for a image. I agree with Abe about toning down the brightness and I would not cut the tips of the petals. |

Hi Julie, welcome to the group. I like your image, it is different from most sunflower images for the reason you state, it looks like a lions mane. A couple of suggestions, the center of the flower does not look tack sharp. The petals not being sharp does not bother me, but I believe the center should be like the lions face, tack sharp. Personally I am not a fan of cutting off part of the flower through cropping, so I would not have cropped off the top of the image. |

I agree this is an interesting start but needs to enhance the strings so they pop. I thought B&W may be an answer. In LR I selected a portion of the image, I did not try for the best portion, and cropped. Converted to B&W, in Topaz Studio I selected a B&W preset and applied at 100%. The image had a lot of noise (which may be from cropping a jpg) so I went to Topaz DeNoise and adjusted to reduce the noise especially in the leaves. This brought out the whites. There is more that could be done, like using a brush to burn the leaves. Also, the part of the image selected in the crop could have a big impact. The result is in the thumbnail. |
