Great image and the sky is really nice and angry. I agree with Marla that cropping to a pano enhances the image by moving the lake into the foreground. To make the lake the subject it would have to be a clear day with the mountains reflecting in the lake. |

Beautiful image, but I agree with Audrey the vignette is a bit to dark. I imported the original into Lightroom where I reduced the highlights to remove the blown out look of the sun and the reflection on the water. I added a more subtle vignette. The result is in the thumbnail. I also would experiment with a 1 pixel gray stroke when showing it on a black background. |

I really like this image. The crispness of the oil drops really makes a difference. I wonder what would happen if you used this technique in color? |

A great image and the framing really focuses the eye. I would try a gray tone outside of the border, the white draws my eye out of the frame. |

Lovely image. While you presented as a reporter might, it is a good subject to see what adjustments could be made to enhance the image. The following are some suggestions that came to my mind. 1) Accentuate the height of the ice by getting a little closer and moving the camera closer to the ground. There are 3 peaks of ice. The one on the right breaks the horizon line while the center and left ones are just at the horizon line. Getting lower would move all three above the horizon line and make everything look taller. 2) the images looks soft, I would add some sharpening. 3) Some of the highlights are blown out. |

I had the same reaction when I processed the image and I am not sure why it turned out like It did. I am attaching the original so you can see what the camera saw. It was about 20 minutes after sunset so I was in the blue hour which definitely shows in the original. The sun set is to the right. I am going to try it as a black and white to see if that works better.
Thanks for the comments, they always stimulate thought. |
