This is a good shot of the duck. I agree it attracts your attention, no question on what is the subject. I think it is a real plus that the head is the only thing that is sharp. My initial reaction, however, was the duck did not pop like I would expect it to. You did not mention any post processing, so I adjusted white balance a little bit, added contrast and sharpened. The result is in the thumbnail. |

I like the colors and the leading lines. The lack of wings does not bother me, but it would be an improvement if you could get a shoot with the wings. To me, nothing looks tack sharp and I think this is the kind of photo that demands the main subject be tack sharp. My guess is that two things contributed to the lack of sharpness, 1) handholding the camera, and 2) the amount of noise reduction which has a tendency to cause blur. I applied a sharpening mask in lightroom which seems to have made a slight improvement. |

You captured the moment of grandmother and grandson enjoying their photo making. I agree the left side is a bit too bright. I tried several adjustments in Lightroom but had no more luck than Audrey. Thanks for sharing a happy moment. |

Great shot! I agree with Audrey's changes. I also think the dark bottom third could be dealt with by using a graduated filter. |

Well I could put tongue in cheek and say it could be a gender thing, but I do not think that is the case. Since I do not take photos with my phone I can not be of much help. If the original is still available I would go to it and attempt Ruth's suggestion. Also, if the photo out of the phone is a jpg it could be something with sharpening jpgs especially if it is a small file size.
I like the composition and the blurred background. |

Thanks Kim. I have found Nik software to be very good, but like all software it has a learning curve. In the last several weeks Google has announced it will stop supporting the NIK software which means it may crash and there is no fix. Just a word of caution before you invest in a learning curve. I am going to research what else is out there and look into changing. |
