Hi Vella
Great portrait of this monkey the D.O.F he really suits this image and concentrates the eye and the face and expression the eyes are beautifully sharp and great detail.
Just remove that touch of green from above the head and its perfect. |

Hi Guy
I am so glad to hear that you are feeling well enough to be getting out and about.
When I saw this image I had to look twice I took an almost identical image during lockdown in the beautiful garden that surrounds my flat.( have attached a couple the pink one the focus falls of quickly shot at f1.8,the second the bottom flower has a bee inside it.)
Flipped or as is works for me both ways I love the rim lighting on the flowers below,on the stem and the buds beautiful effect, for me the main subject is perfectly placed in the frame and well proportioned I agree with Isaac on toning the flower down jus a touch.
A wonderful image made even better by the fact you were once again out and about with your camera |

Hi Isaac
A very simple but clever image your positioning was spot on almost minamalist but everything connects and leads from one subject to the next, simple but complex well done. |

Should have added Gary if the subject is seated or smaller than me then I bend or crouch so I am exactly at eye level if you shoot low to high you can get rather an unwanted view up their nostrils especially close up |

Hi Gary
You have no idea how much your words mean I was rather emotional after taking the image it so brought the whole event really home to roost with me and I still think of those few seconds I witnessed this moment of defiance and determination.
I have attached a small copy of the original.
Maybe 2 pieces of history in one shot the building in the background was the headquarters of the White Star line, and the very balcony the flag is touching was were the announcement was made to the world |

Hi Gary
As you may know I do not do street photography but I do a lot of portraiture at events, privately and at comicons and always outdoors so this is my thoughts, and been fortunate enough to have my portraiture exhibited at one of the major galleries on Merseyside.
Firstly the nit picks as already stated the crossed legs are the most prominent and especially with the that vibrant coloured dress it just takes the eye straight away.
Right onto the good points and there are a lot to go at,the background is sensational I would kill for that location the grunge of the brickwork, the concrete sill, boarded up window and and graffiti totally contrast to the vibrancy of the subject brilliant,
the eyes are sharp the skin tones and skin lighting wonderful, great expression, detail throughout the hair even in the darker areas.
If it were me I would have gone in head and shoulders at the most waist up that background was made for that,if I have the chance I always take a few in close and slightly further away. |

Hi Ella
Your sepia toning so goes with the image great choice and for me just the right amount of tone, the wallpaper has beautiful texture and creates a wonderful contrast, the frame looks metallic and if so you have done a wonderful job controlling the light.
A wonderful piece of history recorded and shared. |

Hi Ed
Wonderful textures in all the stonework and so love the handrails either side of the men almost pointing to main subject,as Ella said it asks a question what is the topic of the day?
As Ella also said I would just tone the white wall down a touch maybe to the same tone as the steps they are sat on.
I really like this image well done. |

Hi Nik
Great idea very well executed to me its almost abstract and I love that the white waves breaking on the shoreline create a wonderful contrast and so allow the eye to move diagonally from top to bottom,
on my screen so of the blacks do look a little dark but that could well be my screen,I really like the effect you have created. |

Hi John
Lovely tranquil image the two people sat on the bank under the tree give real scale to the whole scene, the 2 trees in the foreground frame the image nicely and send the eye straight down the river and the gentle bend takes the eye nicely through the scene ,nicely done. |

Hi Maria
Your wonderful image so caught my eye your DOF is spot on the 2 birds really stand out from their surroundings and the eye is immediately taken to the subject, colour, lighting and tone are perfect love the pebble just breaks up the foreground,it has been suggested to crop slightly from the right which I think would work I would also crop down a little from the top making more of a letter box crop the other thing I would do is get it printed and enjoy it hanging on your wall. |

Hi Dean
I do a lot of aviation photography in the UK,and I always position myself in an area where there will be no distractions I am very fortunate as I usually get an airside pass which is extremely beneficial, but boy this image has made me think again it really works and I love it you have great control over the sky toning and whites in the smoke,I think the manouvre they are performing is making a heart in the sky one of the aircraft may pull out and put an arrow through the centre a favourite move of the Red Arrows.
Looking closely I think your 2 aircraft are North American AT-6N Harvards also known as Texans.
Very very clever image love it. |
