Hi Erik
I cant even begin to imagine how much care you must have had to take in stalking this beautiful animal and not spook it I think you must have stealth capabilities. It really shows how effective the animals colouring is as a camouflage in its natural enviroment. The lighting on the animal is stunning and the catch lights the icing on the cake enjoy all your trips out and long may they reward you with stunning images like this one. |

Hi Thomas
I am going to disagree with my learned friends in the group I actually like it but I am not a nature photographer and we have some of the very best in this group you did not pass it off as a nature image you have taken a very very good image and used your artistic taste to create an artistic impression which so took my eye when I saw it I actually like the red in the background it compliments the red on the bird itself a really striking image which got my immediate attention all power to your creativity. |

Hi Guy
Considering the conditions and from a moving boat this is so impressive the colours so compliment one another and an incredibly steady hand at that shutter speed, the crop for me is perfect and the textures are superbly handled this may look a simple image but it is not it is brilliantly executed and presented I really like it. |

Hi Bill
For me there is so much to admire in this image the colours are strong and vibrant but not over saturated and like the buildings sit so well together,it so sharp but not over sharpened you could cut yourself on it.I would never have thought of a slant but boy does it work.
Absolutely love it.Great composition and presentation it has immediate impact. |

Hi Isaac
like Thomas I would have loved to have seen the whole hat he is holding in his hand if you excuse the "witty" reply I have to take my hat of to Thomas for the job he did in recreating it sorry.
But I love the way you have captured the man side on showing his concentration on steering the boat it is not a posed image its natural and shows the enviroment and surroundings you were in this is an image that has grown on me and I really like it,it is simple but very effective and tells a story. |

Hi Joe
If I had taken an image at 1/20s hand held all you would see is a red blur amazing job.reds can be overpowering in an image but for me you have got it just right I not only like the wear on the lock plate and wood but some really good marks on the door knob as well great image Joe I really enjoyed. |

I really like this as it is I might crop a tiny fraction from the right but no more I love the movement colour and abstract patterns in the image great idea really well executed. |

Hi Yvonne
I so love contrasty mono images and this really attracted my attention a great silhouette really well seen I would also suggest a slight crop in from the left and a thin white stroke around the outer edge of the picture just so it stands clear of the black background those are minor points and should not detract from the fact its a great image. |

Hi Brian
Superb character portrait pose and look are brilliant textures beautifully handled background sharp enough to show the enviroment but not over power the main subject my only observation the white lettering on the narrow boat is the brightest spot on the image I might just tone it down a touch.
People comp entry by any chance? |

Hi Ella
may I join the others in adding my congratulations to your well deserved award.
I have to be honest and this is only my opinion I prefer your original to Pauls re edit for me the original has a moodiness and an atmosphere that seems to sit well with the colouring and dress of the model and the highlights are restrained but still just noticeable, love the catch lights really really well executed and and presented portrait I do love seeing portraits and this has it all for me as it is. |

Hi Ed
What a great find and already said these old buildings always give great photo opportunities and for me you made the most of this great textures and detail throughout well composed and as Rashid said I love the contrast between the tower which is probably a grain silo and the way the barn has lost it shape over the years you have captured a piece of social history. |

Hi Rashid
really like this the various shapes made by the way people are stood and the activities they are involved in love the rim lighting on the people nearest the bonfire to me the highlight is the man in the middle in front of the fire yes it is a hot spot but in this case it draws the eye straight in and there is something for the the eye to see really really atmospheric image just one suggestion try just a little more contrast otherwise for me leave well alone.
Well done. |

Hi John
So much interest in this image and so much to take in this wider angle approach really works for me the sweep of the bridge is a fantastic lead in and takes the eye all the way to the right before sweeping back left again and the people are perfectly placed and really well spread out as already said this in my opinion is my favourite so far. |

Hi Peter
I have only ever seen one other landscape high key style image before and that was also yours and I so love this style it could almost be a pen and ink drawing it for me heightens the feeling of the desolation and loneliness of the area at that time of year I think you have just produced another winner. |
