Hi Erik
Two photos from the same location this month from members of the group two different takes one portrait the other landscape and both equally pleasing Erik the composition is superb the angled rock lower left leads the eye straight to the waterfall then along the line of rocks the right hand side higher leading straight to the mill it really does flow the mill although in the background is pin sharp and adds real depth to the image everywhere you look the eye is led to a point of interest and focus this is a model of composition tonally superb there is detail in all the shadows the running water is just right get it off the easel and on the wall it is brilliant. |

Hi David
I love the angle of the shot the colour is perfect makes me shiver just looking at it the puddling of the melted ice on the left hand side adds real interest I think this is a great touch the luminosity is brilliant though I do think Guys advice really helps the image. Another superb shot from you really well handled and composed. |

Hi Guy
So love this I love the subtlety of the tones and hues they almost melt into one another the shapes are superb the bird adds just a hint of solidity to the image as does the small rock just above the bird my only thought would be to crop it down a touch from the top to the edge of the sandbank but whichever its an image I would hang on my wall and enjoy. |

Hi Bill
Mills played a major part of my life I started my career working in an old flour Mill after the mill closed I spent the next 20 years as a Marine Cargo Surveyor working with the transportation of grain into the U.K. from around the world especially the great Lakes and St Lawrence so this image has special meaning for me.
I love the contrast in the tones the bright top and bottom of the image with the more subdued tones of the mill and rocks, the eye is led all the way through the picture it is beautifully composed I especially like the angle of the large rock on the left.I am so glad you saved this image Bill it is not only a superb image but brings back memories for me. |

Hi Guy my secret to photographing people is as follows I say to them I will give you no direction its about how you want to be seen and they go for it very relaxed no pressure its usually one shot.
I was so disapointed you and Paula could not make it but you made the only sensible decision Guy the weather up your way was atrocious.
Talking of photographing people I was guest photographer at Liverpool Comic Con all weekend Sunday morning I was asked by Jorghito Vargas Jnr the Blue Power ranger in the original Power Rangers TV show asked me to do a photo shoot with him and then with various visitors and his events company has started publishing them it was surreal. |

Hi Joe
Glad you stood on the street and not the balcony it doesn't look very safe as already said by Isaac great job in all the straightening you did,the building is a great subject and you really did it justice you have so captured its age the texture and decay there for all to see a great image of a building that may not be there for much longer looking at it we should record these buildings for posterity. |

Hi Ella
Well done you for this I wouldn't even know where to start I also recognised your model but John beat me to it I love the way you have flipped and copied the stairs they look fantastic the angel filter is a little strong for my taste and I would keep it away from her arms and legs but try other textures and filters but you have tried something totally different and I hope you keep experimenting and and showing us your work well done Ella. |

Hi Paul
I really like the composition virtually 2 interconnected triangles I like the low cloud just touching the peak of 2 of the mountains great sky and very good detail in the rocks as Peter said its a bit there wasn't just a shaft of light hitting part of the mountains but would love to see more from the trip. |

Hi Ed
You got your angle and composition just right you can see across the bridge the weeds growing through the road surface and cracks fits well with your theme of desolation and loneliness very well the image is well exposed and tonaly spot on unfortunately like the others I find it lacking something to focus on or tell a story sorry. |

Hi Rashid
A very intimate portrait which I like I do like Peters slight crop from the top just to concentrate the viewer straight at the face my only suggestion would just to dodge the eyes very slightly to bring them out as the eyes are what makes a strong portrait also have look at adding a light vignette around the edge .It looks a little soft on my screen but that is because you have scanned a print or a negative a scan will always loose a touch of definition but a portrait I really like. |

Hi John
Well seen and very well composed I love the contrast on the gate posts between the snow and the still uncovered post adds real depth I also really like the windblown snow in the background and as Peter the tree branch upper left works nicely for me I do like Peters adjustment to bring more texture into the foreground snow but a great winter image I hope there was a roaring fire for you when you got back home. |

Hi Peter
If I had walked into a gallery and seen this hanging on the wall I would have sworn it was a pen and ink drawing not a photograph its almost a high key landscape the like I have not seen before but that is the nature of the country I am amazed you managed to control the image so well with so much white around I have looked at it for ages and keep spotting different things you never fail to amaze me I love this. |

Hi Peter
Many thanks for your kind words I hadn't noticed the bottom right hand corner that will be attended to much appreciated.I went in much closer with this than I would normally do this is uncropped it isn't a jewel at the bottom its actually his finger nail where he is holding the cane and I should have cropped up or cloned it out I have other portraits of Mr Slink which show the hand on the stick.
As always Peter your observations are very much appreciated. |

Hi Diana
I like all three my problem is the background it would have been so much better if they had set up in front of a plain background see if you can select her and move to a better background.
