The monochrome suggestion could work well, perhaps along with cropping out the grass in the foreground |

The composition is strong and visually pleasing, with the variety of tones adding real depth. I wonder how the photo might have looked if you had kept just one or two small human figures-it could have created an intriguing focal point |

I didn't set out to create a beautiful image. The photograph is meant to be unsettling rather than aesthetic, drawing attention to the neglect on the beach and evoking discomfort in the viewer. I placed the pole in the center intentionally to heighten that sense of unease-had it been straight, I might not have taken the picture at all. I'm sorry if that intention wasn't clear. |

Could you please clarify if you mean physically straightening the bent pole on the beach or digitally editing it with software? |

Karl, The shapes in the center of the image are really captivating. You might consider cropping out the bottom third, where the flat gray tones don't add much and make it harder to focus on the subject. In contrast, the central area above contains much more visually engaging forms that stand out nicely |

Lauren? Congrats on the new macro lens! I really liked the color tones in the image-they work nicely together. That said, in macro photography, it's generally important to keep the key elements in sharp focus, which usually means using a deeper depth of field. In this shot, the depth of field feels a bit too shallow, so some potentially interesting details ended up out of focus. Shooting with a smaller aperture (smaller than f/5) would help, and in most cases, focus stacking-both during and after the shoot-can make a big difference. |
