This is a 'way beautiful painting, Cindy, particularly with the background you added. However, I loved seeing the pair in the original, standing over their fledglings (if that's the correct term) and thinking how unique to see an entire bird family together in a single shot. So I wish you could have found a way to include those in the nest, despite not having all you wanted to see, down there. But I still say you did beautifully with your vision of just the pair.
No need to apologize about using older shots and not being able to keep producing so often, especially with a huge body of work ready to be exposed to the comments and appreciation of the group.
It's good to read your "confession", though, and know that we all have various reasons why it can be difficult to keep up with producing new stuff each month, with those of us who shot more photos in the past that we've forgotten to use and need to bring to light with a new treatment. |

Congratulations on having your "In the Mist" in Digital Showcase, Martha. What an honor and a lovely shot, as well!
How lucky to find a waterfall and an arched bridge all in a single shot. I admire the way you kept the rough, powerful force of the water further back and the smoother flowing water in the foreground. And the bright colors really enhance the painting. |

What an amazing-looking still-life painting you created here, Nancy! I especially appreciate seeing each step, beginning with the particular lighting set-up you used on the veggies. To me, there's enough of the color and shape of the pepper to distinguish it, so I'd see no need to rework it, but then, you're more of a perfectionist, I bet. It was fun to compare with the oil painting, so thanks for sharing that, too. |

Trey, I thought your original shot was plenty abstract enough and actually prefer the textures in it to the final image. I agree that any of these would be wonderful as a background layer. |

All, your feedback helps. I hadn't thought I'd made it too bright overall until I saw it posted. Maybe need to dial it back/tone it down to keep the foggy aspect I was attracted to. |

Super nice shot, Kieu-Hanh! Like the others, I would prefer to see more of the scene on the right, where the fisherman is facing. But it is what it is and your desire to quickly capture a sunrise gradient of color worked out well when you found a fisherman by serendipity and captured his presence in silhouette. |

From the partial flag, my first impression was a French flag, but those stripes would have been vertical. This horizontal one echoes the horizontally divided look of the city, with its red roofs grouped at the bottom and greyish skyscrapers at the top portion. I think, though, that it would be best to crop out the partial flag because it makes my eye go out of the frame. |

If it showed up in my kitchen, I don't think my first thought would be to take an iPhone shot! You're a real Texas trooper, Ruth. The angle really makes the shot. Your YardArt is invading your indoor living space nowadays. Kudos for having the nerve to pick it up and take it back out to nature. It sort of makes an abstract with its swirly shape next to the round curves in the sink. |

Breathtaking image! My husband's favorite spot, too. Any shot of it seems other-worldly, but yours well captured the contrasts that serve to showcase the gorgeous colors of this scene. I just think it might benefit from slight sharpening. |

This is an interesting "take" on a familiar landmark, reducing it to basic shapes and losing the colors. Just for fun-since the kite is so brightly adorned-you might like to try an alternative version with all the strong black inky outlines and adding a layer of faint colors in the kite & top of the sky. But anyhow, this is unique and eye-catching. |

We saw this place so many times when living in Chicago and it always is an attraction. I think your shot captured all the exciting colors very well and I agree that it would add nothing to show people facing the camera, not to mention, as you said, they'd only be blocking the best view. Looks A-OK to me! I remember when they extended the subway/el out to the airport that we could see the light display through the walls (I believe were glass blocks) |
