It MIGHT be a Cranesbill geranium. I tried googling it. |

Well, it may not be mixer brush level, but it seemed to create an appropriate light-hearted scene for this pair. Glad you liked it, Cindy. |

You're right. I did have fun doing this one. I am not in your league for finding wild animals in their habitats, but this pair in the zoo caught my fancy. Thanks for the praise. |

Although my first impression was that only the background was touched by painting, and that extreme sharpening was what you'd done on the eagle, the overall look is impressive. Plus, your mixer brush skills are so perfect now that all I perceive is perfection, not awareness of looking at a painting of a bird. At any rate, this is a gorgeous rendering. |

Hi, Martha, and welcome! You jumped right in to trying new techniques, both with the camera motion and then with the final brighter painting processing. The later versions of cropping made a great improvement for the composition. I also think you chose the perfect title to describe this painting. |

I love the powerful look you maintained in this beautiful eagle, especially how you enhanced its eye, and the fantastic rough way you painted it's feathers. I am not as excited about the roughness of the sky background, which detracts from the bird, particularly the sort of halo outlining the back of its head. Still, I always enjoy seeing all the unfamiliar animal life from your area! |

The painted golden background nicely complements the warmer tones in the petals themselves, Nancy. I think it's ready to hang on the wall. |

YES! I really like the color shift from warm original to cool-toned final image. Also, that despite changes wrought by Topaz, you were able to maintain the charming fuzzy little hairs on the stems that characterize this flower. Nice job. |

Kieu-Hanh, I don't object to the lettering, but don't feel the need for the open sky above that. That's the only cropping I'd like to see because I feel the design on the back of the carver's shirt echoes the design he's cutting into the pumpkin. Another very timely image for this season. Happy Thanksgiving! |

You are a riot, Steven! What a fun idea--a Mashup of your own background with her foreground. I'm still chuckling! |

The amount of enhancements you did works very well, to my eye. I wouldn't have preferred to see such a dark foreground, as in the original, and I don't think it needs further brightening than the final image. The sky with its colorful clouds is the focal point. |

This is nice and sharp and colorful, Ruth. Your idea to flip it upwards was a perfect choice. |

You were fortunate to shoot the deep snow before it got messed up or dirty. I like the ornate building part in the distance and the idea that the snow-covered chairs are leading our eyes over to it. Further, I prefer Steven's lightened streak which works even better, but that is hard to fine-tune with phone apps. I would have removed the pedestrian who adds nothing to this calm scene and looks blurry, to boot. Anyway, you are getting us in the mood for winter with this. |

I agree with everyone that the shadow jumped out at me right away, but it doesn't detract much from the amazing effect. Good for you, trying out such a appropriate filter that made your image look so interesting! Very mosaic-al (if there was such a word) Wouldn't this make interesting floor tile? |

Steven, the diffused yellow in the lighting from the leaves created a lovely scene. Interesting that the bench's artist even used "change" in the word CHANGE itself by making the first 3 letters solid and the final 3 as cutouts. I have to agree that today's cameras do a better job--and with less hassle--than normal SLRs. Very timely subject you chose! |
