Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
56 Oct 22 Comment Thanks for the helpful comments, everyone. I had to make some decisions in the final painting after starting to make some changes, like lightening up the faces. They were dark to begin with, in the dim interior and I decided not to make them completely recognizable, but instead to emphasize the movement and colorful clothing they wore. Also, I decided not to remove the little on-looker, as he told part of the story, to me: that he had rapt interest, but was not a part of the dancing, and I think the caution tape which could easily have been removed, showed that he was separated from the action he was so interested in. Even without seeing his face, it was obvious he was paying close attention to the dancers. Oct 24th
56 Oct 22 Comment These eyes can hypnotize. The way you lit them up really gives so much expression. This is such a beautiful wild animal shot which you turned into a fabulous painting! I like what you did with the tip of the tail, to keep it from melding into the paws as it did in the original. It's nice to see the snow leopard in a snow-spattered scene. Oct 24th
56 Oct 22 Comment The ship in the background adds so much to the realism in this shot. I wondered how you created that smoke look (?) It looked like in the right spot for her pursed lips blowing--until I read the comment from Trey. (It would be harder to get her to blow smoke down by her wrist, though.) I guess we are used to seeing gunslingers in the wild West showing off after a shot. Anyway, I love the model's look with her pirate costume and old gun and appreciate your hard work to get this special look with Mixer Brush. Oct 24th
56 Oct 22 Comment Trey, I like the tight closeup and how brightly you rendered the colors. Topaz was helpful in bringing out the patterns in the veins of the petals and the "beard" of the iris. The colors and the close-up-ness have so much impact! I also enjoy shooting our irises (or anybody elses' for that matter) whenever I get a chance. Oct 24th

86 Oct 22 Comment Your ever-ready camera in the form of a cell-phone certainly came in handy for trying some great street photography, Kieu-Hanh! I really admire how you got the perfect angle to tell this story. I agree with your change in cropping (your 2nd version). It has everything you need and nothing to distract. Oct 24th
86 Oct 22 Comment Gene, if you had not mentioned changing out the sky to add the cloud, I think nobody would have guessed. I agree that you might enjoy a close zoom-up look on these interesting tilted windows. (Or something to keep in mind for another time.) Oct 24th
86 Oct 22 Comment Jack, I guess this shot is right up your alley, with your line of work plus interest in PJ. This is a lush image with so much color: of the gorgeous yellow tinted sky in the background, bright green vineyards, the fresh bluish purple if the grapes, a hint of an aqua pond (?), even a bright red jacket for accent. One can almost see the movements of these workers as they concentrate on their jobs, so no, I don't need to see their faces to make it a true PJ shot. In my opinion, you have all the necessary elements, yet nothing to distract and nothing looking manipulated. Oct 4th
86 Oct 22 Comment Ruth, your yard art never fails to amaze. This is such a decorative, though monotoned little lizard. And now we all know what pecan husks look like, on top of those more-familiar shells. You made an improved image by your decision to rotate it into this better position.
My only suggestion for an improvement would be to change all the green leaves to some shade of brown and leave the nut green as it is. The scattered bright greens pull my eye all over, but if it were concentrated in the pecan area, I could focus better on the little animal climbing on it. What do you think?

86 Oct 22 Comment Steven, welcome to the group. We lived most of our lives in Chicago, and I only found & was able to purchase such a stalk, once-but they were the freshest ones I ever had. You found some variations in color I was not aware of, either. No wonder you had to get a shot of this produce! You vastly improved upon the shot just by rotating the image, more like their growing position. This is natural-looking and fun to look at. Oct 4th
86 Oct 22 Comment Quang, kudos on your very successful efforts at doing the editing process entirely without a computer. That's always my goal, too, to use the phone (or iPad mini) apps to do the post-processing work, even when it would be vastly quicker for me just to do it all on a computer with Adobe Photoshop. It's a learning adventure.
You shot against a GORGEOUS sunset background and found an eye-catching angle that a fallen soldier might have witnessed. I am intrigued by the eye-catching cloud textures with the birds also in a good spot. Super job!
