When we lived in Chicago, we often enjoyed driving up to Brewers Park. That's a nice ballpark. You're lucky to have that one to enjoy. We don't have major league ball close by. |

You picked a shot with a good background to make this Meerkat show up and show off a little bit of its environment. I like the way you were able to capture the look of its fur and the rustic look of the wooden wheel, as you stuck to the original colors in the image very well. They are fun to watch and this painting is likewise a fun one to look at. |

This is one of those images that just makes the viewer say, "Awwwwwwwww! Such a cute bird!"
Your enhancement of the background, changing it from dull greys to lively color, serve to draw attention to the Sugar Bird. You did fabulous work getting its eye to sparkle so! Yes, you did so much work to get it to look like this, but I think well worth all your efforts! Wonderful job, Gerhard. I am always looking forward to seeing your next image. |

I really do like the effect you got here, Nancy, to add a "popping out of the antiquey background" feel to it. Good thing you realized that you didn't need to show the entire upper part of the rear of that loom, just necessary to focus in on the bobbins and spools on the front two frames with their various colors. I don't know if you had the option, but I would have liked seeing some more of the sketch effect in the lower parts of the image, instead of the almost plain white look.
Anyway, this is unique and has plenty of impact as it turned out. |

While the original shot is obviously taken in forest-like surroundings, the painting gave me a first impression of under the sea, with its dappled light patterns and mossy textures resembling seaweed. All the colors together are really pretty. Your explanation of Wisconsin's glacial impact was interesting as well. |

You certainly are expanding our horizons of monuments and architecture we are missing when we are not actively traveling as much these days. I really appreciate your full explanations as well as the photo itself, to learn more about its significance. You shot at the right time to include the sun, since it is such an important part of the story--at least, it would be on 9-11. The leaning/distorted/stretched-looking passersby and tilted background buildings might be expected to be straightened in any other image--but add a sense of drama to this particular scene. Thanks for sharing. |

I agree with Kieu-Hanh about the impressionist look. This has a sort of soft, misty look with a richness of color tones throughout. It makes me want to spend more time focusing on each element of the shot individually, rather than just one center of interest. After I followed the S-curving road, I circled back to look at the foreground tree on the left and then to the atmospheric tinted sky in the distance, as I might in real life, being nearsighted and all. |

This is one nice portrait of both of them. I know it is hard to get just the right pose for an animal, so doubly difficult to have two subjects together! This shot makes both of them look engaged with each other and happy together. |

Since we read left to right, the flipped diagonal makes plenty of sense to lead the eyes along the lines across the photo. This seems to be a significant piece of architecture and the fish sculptures add extra interest to the shot. You didn't say so, but do I detect a slight warmness in the color of the final image? For some reason, the greys and blues seem more lively. |

While the sunlit sky is gorgeous on its own, your idea to add the birds flying adds just the right touch to this scene. The distressed look in the water is just the right amount of texture--if that's where it was applied, but I feel it is a tad too strong on the sharp weeds at lower left. This is a peaceful way to end the day. Live mode seems to have helped select just the right shot, but I do wish I could see it before you added the FX for comparison. |

Quang, since you have an iPhone, try downloading the app Image Size. That one seems to work for me.
