I can never look at your final images without a pang of envy, Cindy. Somehow, you extracted the best parts of the subject and fabricated a very complementary background. The stripy scales were truly inspired. I enjoy seeing the different stages the original went through to the final product. I don't have any preference--land, water, whatever, it all looks great to me. |

Cindy's commentary was on the mark about how impressive the angle was, your location to shoot, and the V shape formed by the riders. While I've shot a fair number of bicycle races, I don't recall such steep stretches, so this really stands out. The DAP treatment smoothed things out enough to blur the personal details, but I like to see that it left some of the foreground details in the street, for added interest. Great result! |

Inasmuch as giraffes are my favorite animals at zoos (I have never been on safaris), it has never occurred to me to give them the colorful treatment like this. Your creativity has really brought out a playful side of this colorful creature. I LOVE how it turned out and I hope I remember to file this in the back of my mind for future inspiration. Wish I had thought of it first!!!! |

The image is simplified from the overly-cluttered original's background and I love the choice of new background colors--rich teals, oranges, pinks and purply-blues (or bluey purples?) that, when added to the lavender and yellowish flower parts, create a fun color scheme. What a pretty poster this could present at a flower show, with lots of white space for lettering. Maybe it was quick, but very effective! |

The colors throughout are very uplifting, as are the repetitions of sailing masts pointing skyward. The tighter all-over cropping brought the subject close enough for additional added interest and Topaz enhanced it with wonderful painterly texture and warmer tones. And now the sky DOES appear more threatening, which supports your title very well. It's also a good thing that the effect did not remove the wonderful reflections you had captured. |

You know, they do resemble gingkos quite a bit. I never thought of that. If I re-do this, I'll try your suggestion about lightening the upper part. |

The closer crop of the vertical really emphasizes the flowers and the way they arrange themselves. The white buds nearly seem to be glowing and dropping down from the sky. You did a terrific job of removing distracting elements. Well done. |

Nice how the moon cooperated that day to get into position for you. I like the way the ripples go in one direction above the dark letter "Y" and change direction below it. These dunes have so many colorful waves for texture. Great shot! |

I enjoyed seeing your member showcase Bilbao shot! Kudos to you for the extra exposure.
This closeup flower is almost like a painting with its dreamy pinkish/orangish colors and tiny squiggly dark stamens. It is half soft/half sharp. So hard to get this level of detail with cell phone cameras, but seems you pulled it off OK. |

A very sad story indeed, but thanks for bringing it to our attention with your interesting photo. I agree with Jack about how well you composed the shot vis a vis the fence that HAS to be there. It makes one peer ever harder into the decrepit buildings and think about folks who used to be able to use the modernistic picnic table and benches. No, I don't think B&W would be helpful; the contrast of the pretty bright spring weather with the deep shadows help tell the story for you. Good choice of title, as well! |

I also have an infrared-converted camera and this cell phone one looks about as good as anything that's come out of it. You may get some of the rest of us to look into the equipment you mentioned. It would be nice to have a color version taken at the same time for comparison side by side. It's a really nice and peaceful scene with almost snow-looking lawns and trees. The hint of a tree reflection adds some dimension. Thanks for the info. I like this a lot. |

Ruth, it looks like you are having some fun with your images! I like the swirly effects you added to this tiny set of flowers. Now it's become a real painting with some depth to the oil paint texture. The bright colors are so apt for this time of year. Kudos! |
