Looking at the final painting of this happy mortician, I never would have guessed at the original background. You did well in distancing him from the bright distracting hubbub there.
Your painting skills were evident all over this, especially with the imaginative addition of the moon and birds using the same color tones. |

While the farmhouse and/or barn roofs are clear in your original, they blend into the trees and look like painted hills in the final painting, which is even more harmonious, but now it need does depend on the title to realize it's on a farm, not just a distant view with atmospheric perspective.
The pale blue colors are lovely, Terry, and I like the dash of redded-up ground foliage in the left foreground in your painting.
PS: I never noticed the lines, so they don't bother me either way. ;-) |

Great choice of artistic tool for this image, Gerhard! Since a Rhino is not a brightly-colored subject, nothing is lost by rendering it in mono-tones. This looks just fantastic! I like the way you did the edges of the image as well. Yes, yes, yes. |

We had milkweed in our yard growing up in Michigan, with the big fat striped caterpillars. I never connected them to the idea of the Monarch butterflies which fluttered around in the summers.
I like what your painting did for the subject, Nancy. The bright orange butterflies hang like petals from the branches with just the leaves showing through.
I second, or rather "third" the motion to keep it just as is, a natural work of art. Nice as a painting, without "betraying" its origins in photography. |

Even with the paint strokes, your Heliopsis look fresh as a daisy as though they'd never been fussed with in LightRoom, Photoshop, nor Topaz. You made them seem even more real. I like the hint of ghostly outlines of faint floral shapes in the background while the main 3 in front are sharp and in a lovely composition. Kudos! |

I like Cindy's idea of lessening the bright greens in the foliage. The "Petunia" is actually the "Calibrachoa" in the title. They look just like mini Petunias. This was a fun departure from the work I usually come out with so I'm glad the bright colors were appreciated. |

I guess I also am a fan of the Original 2 with it's stronger colors and realism, since Original 1 has the same oranges and yellows, but at a weaker extent. 2 is more punched-up and looks like we expect autumn to appear.
The slight leaning of the tree trunks and poles in the neat-looking design of Chasing Autumn has an unexpected off-kilter feel to it, but I really don't object; I get that same unsteady feeling as I concentrate on looking up into the glorious treetops and not being fazed by the ground underfoot.
I hope you get my meaning; the trees and their leaves are what is important, what is on the ground, less so. Maybe the car is the only focal point I would glance at on the ground. |

This is so nice and sharp that my eye pauses on the straight lines when they deviate and merge in those small branches which keep it from looking too perfect, like corduroy fabric. I particularly like the flat plain background hill and sky which contrast with the textured sand of the main subject of the furrowed hill. You caught the shadows at the right moment in your shot, with the rich color showing them off. |

Wow, this is so different, Ruth! I love the tight cropping and the textured background that has color, yet does not try to compete with these bright flowers. Although it came in the spring, it aptly conveys your holiday wishes. Merry Christmas to you, too! |

This is one of those images that make one think. I have to go along with Kieu-Hanh, that the background would work better if it were blurred or darkened, so a not to compete with the fish. But as it is, it is ethereal, looking right through a salmon, as it were. |
