I like the way you combined the black and white rendition with the original in color for your final painting, Cindy. It's not necessary to see the entire sky and field to appreciate the uniquely-shaped barn. Having the white vignette look balances with the large barn and gives it greater impact than the original photo. Also, it now has a lighter, more pastel-type look. |

Terry, it sounds as though you got a lot of "mileage" out of this particular shot--excuse the pun! It really captured the excitement of a close footrace and now it translates well into the painting. It was a great vision of yours to use just the legs and feet to convey the racing action. |

This is a departure from your usual themes, Nancy, and it looks just plain fun rather than depressing old junk. I applaud the combination of the sketched-looking areas with the painted pieces whose colors really stand out. The addition of the matching stroke with the bright hot pink is a great finishing touch. |

You introduced much more color into the bark which makes the individual pieces stand out, as well as picking up an 'aged' look. It's interesting to see the bark from a different perspective. I didn't know what I was looking at, at least until I saw the caption. |

Thanks for the suggestions, Nancy. They should help me in the future using this tool. |

The story behind your setup for the shot was interesting. Now we know your secret: that you didn't just happen to find the big beautiful shell washing up from the sea. ;-) No matter. You placed the shell at a good spot in the image and it seems to catch the first rays of light. (I'd thought of fading light of a sunset at first--but if it's in Virginia Beach, I'd better think of a sunrise!) The light in the waves lead directly from the sunshine to the shell. |

Thank you all for your comments. I was hesitant to use this piece of old machinery at first, but it was fun to transform it a bit and see what you all thought. Maybe I'll look at some others taken at the same place and see what they can become. |

The colors in this go together so well and the cropping emphasized the unusually beautiful clouds in the sky, with their somewhat repetitious appearance. I do like its polarized appearance which gives it plenty of snap, instead of being pale and washed out (which would emphasize the canola field more.) |

Happy Spring to you, too, Ruth! I think your son would enjoy a print of this. Nice and sharp and beautiful colors. |

I'm thinking "flag" when I see this. I like seeing how well these bright colors work together, and they do GLOW! This is a very creative/imaginative image, Phillipa. You got a lot of mileage out of Snapseed and SuperimposeX with this. |

I had a hard time figuring out where to look for the "man" in the image. But your "moon" leather textures make for an interesting composite. Who says there's no moisture on the moon's surface? The variations in shading in the final mono image work well to tie all the elements together. |

My comments echo Ruth's: that it would be nice if it were a bit sharper and it struck me as a reflection on glass, so depending on the thickness of the glass, might explain the fuzziness in the flower. I did think it was pretty neat to use the plant/tree reflections as a leftside border with a lacy look! |
