10 Dec 20 Comment This certainly is an eye-catching image. Even though it seems to be past its prime, the sharp detail of the leaf against the plain background makes me think I can see every cell. Very nice!

56 Dec 20 Comment I am not that familiar with dahlias that I'd ever noticed little heart formations on them. Live & learn. The original had a nice variety of colors that you maintained in the painting, yet you altered them just enough to harmonize together in the painting. I like your job of cropping, as I often leave too much in that would be unnecessary for the final look. You got it right. Dec 24th
56 Dec 20 Comment Nothing bleak about this particular early winter morning, Terry! I like the rainbowish colors you tweaked into the final image. And also the watercolor way you softened the tree branches to emphasize the silhouette of the lonely bird. Dec 24th
56 Dec 20 Comment You certainly got a top-of-the-line image here and it didn't require anything extraordinary to give it that impact. It looks a slight bit over-sharpened to my eye, but maybe that was necessary to bring out the detail. Wonderful color and composition. Dec 24th
56 Dec 20 Comment Your work-around with screen capture was such a good idea to enable you to create this touching memorial to the sister who passed away. Both sisters look wonderful and engaging to the viewer. It was interesting to learn the extra information that dark backgrounds are discouraged for memorial pictures. Your soft colors and paint strokes complement the women. By the way, her neck looks so natural I find it hard to believe the original had a mask on. Dec 24th
56 Dec 20 Comment I really like what you came up with here, Trey. Great pose, wonderful background--especially after you got the tone to be warmer on the buck. I don't really agree that background needs to be blurred because it in no way distracts from the obvious subject. This reminds me of seeing a diorama in a museum, except that this fellow could have moved at any time. Dec 24th

86 Dec 20 Comment Merry Christmas to you, too, Kieu-Hanh! Not only is this a striking image and unusual viewpoint, but also it reminds me of the concentric rings of growth inside of a tree trunk. A very timely image and I am enjoying looking at it. Dec 24th
86 Dec 20 Comment Merry Christmas to you, too, Ruth! This was a nice Thanksgiving-time image, as it does appear the great-grandchild is having some prayer inspiration. While the black and white is nice, I vote that you should leave it with the original pastels that so much suit a young innocent child. This little one is looking at something intently. Perfect pose for you. While I don't recall experimenting with Noir, it sounds like something that might better suit a photo of an old wrinkled person or gnarly tree, or some other textured subject. 86 Dec 20 Comment Oh, no, I love the yellows in this. It turned out all right, after all. I like seeing yellows dispersed throughout the image. To me, it makes the rock-strewn beach all that more interesting.

(Oddly, your final image takes very long to load on my computer, as though it were not downsized. Or maybe it is taking its time arriving from Australia.)

86 Dec 20 Comment The low-key look of the snow-laden branches is lovely and made more stunning with your textured moon look and the limited number of colors that call attention to the outlined branches. Well done. Dec 24th
86 Dec 20 Comment It's interesting that you were able to combine 4 photos into one in a natural way that shows the scene from a turtle's eye view.I think the markings on the turtle's neck nicely complement the textures under the water and all the colors are subtly coordinated, tans and blues. Certainly a unique point of view for this nature preserve. Dec 24th
