This is as good as it gets, Cindy. (You don't have to re-do it any more next year.) I'm sure this was the look you sought all along. It looks tip-top to me. It must have been a pain eliminating all those white straps all over the place. I like how well they stand out from the similarly-colored background, almost 3-D. Thanks for adding catchlights in their eyes in just the right place, too. It makes them look even more appealing.
I liked your comment about since it was soft already, it would lend itself to painting. I have some like that, that I didn't want to delete because I actually liked them, had nothing sharper for some reason, and I would just make them soft with the painting apps anyway. Although I mostly prefer to start with a sharp image, if they are otherwise interesting, I'll have to track down those less-than-tack-sharp shots so I can try painting with them. |

The mellow yellowish tones you added in the leaves and the structure itself lend a welcome warmth to the overall image. The little bit of bald sky above the trees was too bright and I see you've toned it down a bit, but might I suggest eliminating it all together...? (clone some leaves over it or even crop from the top a little or use a slight vignette.)
All of your filters worked very well together in your skillful painting to harmonize and texturize each element. I enjoyed your backstory as I pictured you capturing this spot. |

Gerhard, your original is already so wonderful and colorful that you hardly had to make many changes to turn it into a unique painting. The primary colors in this are so punchy and attractive. The sun's rays really tie the scene together. I am so happy to have you back in our group & hope you are doing a lot better now. I am used to seeing your submissions with wild animals, so maybe there are a few lurking in the distance of this scenery. |

Your Easter lilies look a lot like Calla lilies to me, but their color in the painting is purplish--definitely an Easter-y shade. I like the intricate blocky shapes that must have been added with the Topaz remix filter (?). That one isn't familiar to me. I must look to see if I have it in my bunch of Topaz tools. The flowers at those angles rather remind me of poses by Degas dancers. At any rate, this entire painting looks like it was done by one of those well-known painters. You've arrived, Nancy! This one should be in an art museum. Wonderful job. Don't change a thing. |

While your original is charming in a chilly foggy-day type of look, the resulting final painting is a jewel with its gorgeous leaf colors. Just splendid. It makes me start looking forward to this autumn. It's as though someone switched the lights on. I like the paint strokes on the right side and the swirly action added to the leaves. You did a fantastic job with this subject, Trey! |

This must be a temporary art installation. It's been 100 years since I visited Madrid and it didn't look as lively. I like the line of folks as a diagonal, heading for the Apple store in the background. They sort of frame the I Love You Menina statue. I'd say it was a pretty darned good shot to have been taken from atop a bus without much chance to set things up. Welcome to our group! |

This is true, Tom. Or maybe I could color it to match the flower, as a petal. (If, like you, I could only get adept at these tools on a phone.) |

That was a good idea I hadn't considered, but it would add to the realism. Thanks for suggesting it. |

I quite agree with your darker vignetting that got the other flower's parts out of the image. This tiger lily has enough impact to stand alone. You chose a winner, Tom. Nice work. |

We have been hearing the racket these little bugs make for nigh on a month by now. Note to self: I will have to look up how they do it. Sometimes it sounds like a bunch of them and it's just one in the tree, like a loudspeaker! I haven't come across one in the yard on the ground lately. This specimen posed patiently for its portrait and you got a pretty nice sharp shot for a cell phone, Ruth! I hope all is going well in Texas. |

This image marked "Original 2" gives me shivers. ;-} It looks like ice patterns. The final one has a definite mood. It's so cool and cloudy that it pulls one into it. Something about the trees and their shadows reminds me of batik fabric. (Say, wouldn't this make a gorgeous dress or shirt?) |

The vivid colors in your image certainly have plenty of impact! Since every sunrise/-set is always somewhat unique, it seems realistic and eye-catching. And I think you have just the right amount of reflection to balance the sky without distracting. Glad to have you in the group! |

Phil, this certainly shows that ANY photo at all can become a stunning final image, given a great imagination, useful tools, and the willingness to experiment. From an ordinary dismal, black and white hallway, you transformed it into a colorful space-age stunner! Kudos to you. I especially like the multi-colored top part. |
