I do like the darkened trees and cabin roof as you did it, but still prefer to have the rest of the scene much brighter. Thanks for showing me an alternate version, Nancy, to help me make some changes before I print it. |

Your kingly beast has served you well in all its iterations. I think the reason the eyes look so startling is that the fur brushstrokes are so nice and soft and blended--just a contrast. While some of us are revisiting our older photos, I think its neat that you went an extra step and revisited a former painting, as well. This version puts more emphasis on the lion's face and lets the body fall off into darkness. Really, a magnificent job. |

I really, really liked the colors in the final painting, Terry. It has a feeling of being in a private place and not just an everyday snapshot. I like the golden streaks of light under the window and just the "unusualness" of seeing a lovely stained glass window set into a fence. |

The faces show up much better in the oval cameo, especially their eyes, and their nice costumes are de-emphasized. Really nice photograph you took to work from. The young ladies would be pleased to see either one, the before or after versions. You get a lot of mileage out of mixer brush. |

Despite the new shape of the image after the crop, you managed to keep the cheerfulness of the dandelions in the foreground, albeit now they are swirly like the trees. I like the painterly effect of the trees, by the way. Also, you handled the lighting superbly, making it look as though the sun was doing it to highlight the parts you wanted us to look at within the triangle shape. I like the variety of shades of color in this painting which, unlike its origins, teems with new life. Well done, Trey. |

I like how this turned out, preserving the petals. However, the white boxy shape in the middle sort of bothers my eye, looking a bit unnatural and out of place. I think I would prefer an all-over petalled look. The hydrangea has just the right amount of sharpness in its softness and the color came out realistic. |

The colors are vivid and there is a sense of sharpness vs. softness in movement throughout the image. The shape sort of reminds me of a heron-like bird flying. (Yes, I know it's abstract, so I'm not supposed to see things in it.) Looks like you had a blast trying different things to get to a final image that is like a painting. |
