This is a very pretty composite, with the flowers growing right out into my 6 foot social distance. It's so nice that you found just the right traditional frame to park them for their portrait. The painting techniques with mixer brush makes each one look 3-dimensional. I think you did a phenomenal job of arranging them, so as to sprinkle the colors around and lead the eye along. |

It's funny how several of us shot originals with dark, murky skies, but the final paintings came out looking bright and eye-catching. With editing applications and painting apps, there's hardly any weather that can't be photography weather anymore. If you see a scene that cries out for at least a record snapshot, go for it!
It sounds like you did a lot to get the final image, but great job, Terry! I also like the faint painterly background that ties the birds together on their slanted roofline perch. (During the pandemic, I've kept our 3 feeders full and have been enjoying watching a variety of birds (without necessarily photographing them.)) Your painting makes me smile. |

I very much like your choice of flowers. The enfolded one is very interesting-looking, as opposed to shooting everything that has already unfurled. Love the goldish-rust mottled background which gives it depth without distraction. |

I can't always say this, but I much prefer your painting to the original for this. I think Terry had a good idea that the horizontal things in the original would add a little more interest to the lower half of the painting.
You got some better spring-type greens in your painting, unlike the golden tones of the original, reminiscent of autumn.
So peaceful. |

Thanks for your rendition, Nancy, to illustrate your comments. I do like that your version of the cropping still kept the arch of rainbow intact, but I think I would want to still keep most of the tree on the left (with its leaves)up a little higher in the sky. Maybe I could have just knocked a little bit off the top left corner (of tree leaves) and have the cloud bank extended up there, as in your version. |

This is so scary-looking at first glance! A relief to read its just a harmless fork and spoon, rather than a threatening huge looming scoop of a bulldozer looking at me with blank eyes and menacing teeth!
The blurred background contributes to the focus on the "equipment" that is the subject. Love your title, too, Tom. By the way, I also liked the gold-tone of the original, so you might have 2 versions of your subject: one with color, one mono.
At least, you play with your tableware and not your food. |

It's as though you hung the umbrella there to protect the rainbow from the storm. I like it that the umbrella is at the same angle as that side of the rainbow. (Funny thing, I posted a rainbow-themed painting in my other group this month, also: Group #56.)
I wish I could see your original, to see what changed. I'm glad you made mention of the vertical lines, rather reminiscent of a picket fence look. The second faint rainbow above is unique.
It does look creative with its dramatic darks and brights contrasting and complementing each other. |

This sure was a thoughtful creation in honor of your friend. I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
These peonies remind me of the "poppies" in my other group (#56) this month (by Nancy Speaker). I love the way you handled the bright colors against the dark background plus the addition of the crescent moon to tie things together and lead the eye back into the flowers. I think a little pale vignette in the lower right would solve the brightness "problem".
You got a lot of mileage out of several photo editing apps which resulted in such a creative image! |
