Well, Cindy, it must have been hard to choose from 50 very different images. I see no reason why your light painting wouldn't be a form of abstract art. You could absolutely frame the final result. Did you already own that glass ball? I enjoyed reading about your technique and seeing other results you obtained from the same equipment. Thanks for sharing the results of your taking a break from the "normal" way of painting to paint with light instead. |

Terry, you continue to have such completely different images each time that I really look forward to seeing your submissions. This certainly has the look and feel of a real watercolor. The original had somewhat dull colors, but your painting added brightness and texture which made the curves a key element. |

While the sky does seem foreboding, I see some balance throughout the image, with darker colors at the center of the bottom ground and right in the middle of the barn. So it doesn't bother me. The second day in the Palouse, we saw such contrasty dark and light skies--then it poured the rest of the day!
I thought it was fun to peer into your "artist's sketchbook" to see what other options you might have evolved and considered for submission. The only one that looked TOO different was the center right, which could have been fish swimming in reeds. It has lost the shape of the old barn entirely. ;-) |

I like the way the sprawling nature of the branch fills the space with delicate buds reaching for the sky. The pale pinkish background tone adds a feeling of warmth, of springtime. I also like the fact that the background is slightly textured, not just flat, suggesting a hint of clouds. |

I don't yet have Superimpose, but I plan to download it now that you've explained what can be done on layers in a cellphone and not just on a desktop version of Photoshop. |

While the trees seem to have vanished, I like the effect of the sparklers, like fireworks. Was the drawing of trees a picture you drew? On a cell phone? I can see a hint of them in the background, but it's quite dark on dark. I assume you shot the sparklers and then sandwiched them on layers, right? |

I like the texture background throughout the image and the softer-colored flower heads. The whirly petals call to mind the circular hay-rakes we see on farms in Tennessee. I do wish you could disguise/remove those dark "chipped"-looking areas on the left that were added, as they tend to be a distraction.
You are on the right track with your idea to let a flower fall onto the table. I'd like to see that done. |
