I see what Nancy meant about the white horizon, but I read it as a distant shore which added depth to the image, so even if you were to tone it down a tad, please keep it in there. I am not bothered by the soft greenery in the foreground, either, as my eye focuses into the central rocky point. After all, paintings can have a certain amount of blurriness to call attention to brighter, sharper areas. |

Yikes! I wouldn't want to meet this character anytime soon. Nice job pulling out the skeleton and replacing the background with nebulous sky type of paintwork. The only thing that bothers me is the coin pile which remains too bright and fakey-looking and draws my eye off the subject too much. I applaud your mixer brush work. |

Cute little kid and such an intent expression on his face. I agree that he'd probably have a dirt smudge or two at his age, so that doesn't bother me. I also like the way the background colors brightened up with your D.A.P. software. You captured a super pose and handled it well with your painting. |

You did a lovely job of smoothing out the water. Where it looked too sharply in focus, it now flows gracefully in all directions. The brilliant colors remind me of autumn. You succeeded in getting an impressionistic watercolor effect all over. |

Her portrait came out just gorgeous, Nancy! With the original yellowish background, the feathers fit right in, but once you eliminated that color cast, you were definitely right to make the boa in shades of grey and white. The skin on the pretty model's face looks smoother after painting, too. You handle that mixer brush so well. |

The pastel look is so lovely for this image. However, my mind kept feeling confused that the reflection was sharper than the water above it in the little pool. I copied the original and tried looking at it "upside down" and realized that although it looked "right" with the sharp tree on top, it was less interesting in terms of composition than the way you painted it. In your painting, our attention is focused on the yellow color--both upper and lower--and on the sharper reflection in the lower half of the image. The yellows and brilliant blues look terrific together. Nicely done, Cyril. |

I hadn't considered stretching it, but that's a workable idea. Thanks for mentioning it. |

Good title and perfect angle in your final image! The root sort of reminded me of an alligator's face. Glad you didn't pass this by; it's an unusual-looking root that ripples right up the trunk. The change in color emphasised the tree, whereas the blue-greys, browns and reds in the similar original were a little distracting. It's a case of "less is more." |

Well, it's sure nice to see a dandelion in the dead of winter, Ruth. The ones I usually see further north have a thicker "hairstyle" so at first, I thought this was a different kind of flower. Glad you mentioned the bug; I can see it in there, but might have missed it, since it matches some of the darker inner flower parts. Nice how the vignette draws attention to the center of the flower. The colors look great! I really like this, Ruth. |

Glad you joined our group, Phillipa. This is a fascinating image. I would have enjoyed seeing the original shot(s) you composited to create it, too. The surreal pinky tone of the water is more flattering to the young lady's skin than the probable original aqua. It's a clever idea for your composition and I'm sure it made a hit with your granddaughter. |

Ruth is right; I bet the museum would love your composited image. I know I do. The way you were able to get more detail out of the boy in the statue makes it look like he is a real child, instead of a silhouette. The angle of the flag in the final image is eye-catching, too. |

I heard from my husband, they did. But I didn't go in there to see for myself. ;-) |
