Considering you had to recreate your entire image from a much-less appealing recent look, you succeeded in getting a natural-looking painting. I can scarcely believe the photo had anything to do with the final painting after you improved it to such a degree. One thing I really admire is the shadows on the wall behind the graceful floral swags. |

I think you had fun putting this one together, and it's certainly a doozie! It almost looks like the car scene is floating in the clouds. Here's one of those cases where the whole is greater than its parts. It must have been a bit of a challenge masking to get the tree appearing sharp in all the windows just right with the dustclouds behind appropriately blurred. Nice work! |

What an unusual and interesting painting you made from an off-beat shot! Changing the background was a smart move on your part, as it may have been distracting. The reddish accents in the hair and face really stand out from the new greenish background. That color is what really caught my eye and made it outstanding as a unique statement. I think the 'dead eye' look reflects a runner's exhaustion at this point. I like her mouth better in your painting, as well. It matches the expression in her eyes. |

The dappled leafy background you created is much more complementary than the plain original one, Gerhard. It was already a good pose and sharp capture. This is such a colorful bird, almost like he painted his own feathers. Everything you did in Photoshop served to enhance its look. |

It was a pleasure seeing you at the Conference, Nancy. And here I thought our drive out to Spokane was a long trip. Yours was a regular odyssey. And it's great that you were able to immediately use a scene you captured en route.
I have only seen mammatus clouds like this a couple times and they always made me run to grab my camera. They look so dramatic. Your painted rendition with its hailstone glow and wispy strokes add to the dramatic look. The idea of sunset carries over via the orangy color into the tall field grass.
I think I sort of know what you are saying about searching for holes on the blank layer is similar to what I learned to do with masks after I found unexpected stray areas on my prints in the past. |

Your painting of the scene came out very well, especially showing off the s-curve of the river with the boat in just the right spot. I love the way the cloud formation above echoes the s-curve as well. It seems you "cropped in the camera" so no further trimming was necessary on this scene. I would be afraid to crop the foreground, if it means disrupting your nice s-curve shape. I wouldn't change a thing to this one. |

It's all about the hands, isn't it? So candid. They were so involved in the argument (?) conversation (?) or whatever, nobody ever noticed they were being immortalized on camera. It's good that you kept the man on the phone in the image, as he might have been a factor in the conversation. Whatever it was about, it apparently was important to all of them and gives us food for thought. Carl is right that the original "businessman" was holding a sharper briefcase and rolled document. I would prefer they remain sharp since that is the front plane of the photo and one of the first things I noticed, too. |

The colors are lovely. It's mesmerizing to watch the unfolding of the colored droplet in the water and find the right moment to snap the shutter. It makes me think of tie-dying in the '60s. |

I am just as glad not to see a scorpion, anyway, Ruth. I like the s-curve of your lizard and the starry way its claws are splayed out. It would be nice if you could clone out some of the leafy stuff at the bottom to just show the lizard on the sand. |

Happy Halloween! This unknown person sure would have been surprised to find out they were the perfect image to turn into a ghostly haunter of the museum. The tilt of the background adds to the eerie feel, as does the cold greenish shade. |

You sure have a great imagination! This does make for a fun/spooky Halloween image, particularly with the fingerpainty clouds above the carnival mirror type of house. The colors are attention-grabbers, too. |

This image takes my breath away. I like it in both black and white and color (I like the varying blue shades in the color rendition.) I was so busy admiring the scene that I didn't even notice all those people on the right at first. Once you mentioned them, now I can't help seeing them. Maybe you could try cloning them out entirely in another version. You got a lot of opinions on this one and there is so much to see in it. |
