Ditto. You all have said it all. This is one of those pictures worth a thousand words. You sure told the story well, and this is a very cool image, one of those I probably would not have thought to shoot and then would be kicking myself later for missing the moment. Even when I have a camera in my pocket in the form of a cell phone, I have to remind myself to use it as a camera. |

Thanks for all your comments! I cropped out most of the vehicle, since Max was the subject and I wanted to focus on him, but I thought I was the only one who didn't know what a Slingshot was. Thanks, Belinda, for providing the context better than I did. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I made a print and had my husband take it to him where they are both members of the American Legion. Just got a thank you note from him. See what you started? |

I like the s-curve you captured and the textures in the sand, leading the viewers' eyes to the couple. I also vote for Laurie's crop for a good compromise that gives the people some headroom at the top. Having seen the final image as a vertical, I was surprised to see the original big file when I clicked on it. There's a wealth of detail. It's a wonderful image and you did a good job of presenting it at its best. |

You sure make the most of your yard, Ruth. On my monitor, the flowers seem a little bit greenish. Maybe it's the thing Laurie mentioned about the greens looking too yellowish that caused them to appear that way. The group is nice because it shows the stages the mature plant goes through. All you need is one bud that hasn't yet bloomed to complete the cycle. |

Wowee! Belinda is so right. How psychedelic. (You don't hear that word much anymore.) It was interesting to hear how it was created. How did you even think of this method? Love those wild colors, too. |

You certainly got a lot of input on your photo, this month, Belinda! My preference is for the flipped version, to lead the eye from left to right diagonally. The fluffy white flowers really provide nice contrast to the shady background. Good image. Makes me want to go over and sniff the plant's aroma. |

I like the way your black and white image turned out--so different from the glowing colored blossom. It's hard to say which I prefer, as each is a strong image in its own way. I sort of hate to see the bottom tips of the petals chopped away (even though for some reason, the cropped top ones don't bother me.) The colored original made them look so nicely scalloped. I would have just left those whole and cropped a hair below the lowest one to get rid of most of the dark green, I think. |
