I love this type of photo and I agree with the cropping you did, which leaves just enough detail without overwhelming. You shot it at just the right moment, when the man was engaged in doing something. It came out as a superb painting. Corel Painter certainly gave the image enough realism along with the painted look. All I can add is: Wow! |

Gerhard, I like the way you decided to flip over your shot. I sometimes could benefit by doing that--if I'd just think of it.
I am a big fan of rainbows and multiple colors, so I found your painting bright and pleasing. Surprised to see how monotone and darkish the original had been! The areas that received the color are appropriate in that mountains and dark clouds are often purplish, water blue and green, beach sand yellowish, and rocks and branches brownish. I found it "neat" that the varigation that made it look like a rainbow also was based in reality. I enjoyed looking at your painted scenery. |

This is a colorful celebration of springtime in California. I liked the way the flowers form a blurred diagonal line from lower left to upper right and the "sun rays" intersect them at the other diagonal. The added sun helps obliterate the dark spot at the upper left which, in the original, sort of drew my eye as I subconsciously wondered: what's that??? The soft yellows and oranges in your painting are so pleasing. I can picture it with a canvas texture. No wonder it was chosen to hang in the Community Center. Glad you told us. That's such an honor. (By the way, what is Studio Textures? Is it part of Photoshop CC?) |

While not a huge difference between the before and after images, your choice of SnapArt was a very good one for this. It blended the warm shades of color very well while keeping the womens' personalities intact. It's an eye-catching painting, for sure. |

Looking at it now, I think you and Elinor are correct, Gerhard. That's do-able and should improve my painting. Thanks for your observations. |

Thanks for the idea about a stylus, Carl. I got one awhile back, but I never think to use it. |

Ruth, I really like the way your background ended up as bright and light and airy, when it was so dark in the original shot. It looks big, like a sunflower with the treatments you gave it in SnapSeed. Even with the bright background, that doesn't compete with the perfection of the flower. It really stands on its own. (If you have to have weeds, at least they have nice flowers.) Now you have a great-looking photo to hang on the wall in celebration of a weed. |

I guess I am not hip. I had to Google "Peeps" to see what it was. Ha! It certainly is a colorful little fellow, all set for snorkeling and it looks like he's in the water already. Too cute! |

Like everyone else, I was impressed with the look of light beams emanating from that window and also the swirling ghostliness around the tower area. It sure is crazy to compare the second image and see where those elements originated. Good choice to combine those two shots!!! |

What a beautiful spot. Not easy to tell that it was poor weather with smoke and rain. After reading your comments, I had to go back to look for the hiker (Where's Waldo?) I liked your idea of flipping the image, which I often forget to try on mine. The brighter red shade really enhanced the bridge and created more of a focal point. I second Belinda's suggestion to darken some more cloud area, to keep it from being such a blank expanse of white sky. The mountain in that area is very interesting-looking, so I'm glad you were able to keep it that way in the final image. I enjoyed looking at your photo. |
