This looks like a masterpiece by some famous painter, Elinor, maybe VanGogh. This is a really good rendering of such an interesting yet simple subject. The original colors were so striking that I'm glad you left them alone. |

The man's face in the original seems to have a "stronger" look about it, while the painting is more dreamlike. My first impression was the same remark Elinor made that both eyes need the catchlights that were in the original, otherwise the eye without one seems to point down a little. Also, in the painting, some noise seems to appear like blemishes on his forehead that are not detectable in the original. Overall, you brought more light into the darkly shaded areas which makes a better painting. |

This one made me chuckle. Until I read your remarks, I thought they were really triplets. The brush you used on the fur really enhances the look. I liked it that you left their eyes so sharp and mesmerizing. You did a superb job, Gerhard. |

This is a good one for Valentine's Day. Your subjects seem to be sharing a private moment with the world around them gone in blurriness. I think the pinkish tone there emphasizes the theme of true love. Don't change a thing. Great job, Nancy! |

The design of the wing feathers is so well displayed and I like the position that the cormorant posed. While the golden color brings my attention to the cormorant, it is nearly as soft all over as the background water. I think that you might get an interesting look, if selected spots were left sharp, here and there on the image: some of the feathers, eyes, beak, tip of the tail. I think the crayon effect looks really good in the water. (That's one I have yet to try.) |

I guess the consensus is nobody likes that big black scale in the way, but at least everyone knew what it was. Now, if I could just get them to take it down so I can re-shoot it--ha! Thanks for the comments. |

I liked what Carl was able to do with the grain in LR, but overall, I prefer the yellows/reds of your final image, with the sun going down in a blaze of glory. |

Try as I might, I couldn't really see any differences between the photo you started with and the final image. However, both of them have a great look for a poster, particularly with the strong diagonal line of the wing. I have taken so many shots out the windows of planes. It's interesting to see how each area of the country(s) are so different from above. Lucky you had such a clear day, too. |

Although your description mentions many different things you did to get the final effect(s), it appears entirely natural. It stands alone as an image, not actually resembling either of its original shots. Probably because the colors are more vibrant in the finished product, while less bright than those in the second image. I don't mind the darker areas, because they are interlaced with the faint blue color. It looks like the background of a painting. |

That was nice of you to remember her with her favorite things using your special photographic skill. It looks very professional, using the blurred depth of focus and tight cropping. You left enough of it sharp for it to be easily identified as a flute and the monotone shades of both the original and final image give it a timeless quality. I like this very much: it's simple, yet evocative. |
