Thanks, Nancy, your ideas will help me isolate the dancer and just give an inkling of the background. I appreciate it that you showed me what you meant. As they say, "a picture is worth..." |

I like the new angle of the flower and your resulting colors look even better than the original bright orchid. You have effectively blurred the background areas that needed it and emphasised the flower parts with sharper detail. A stunning painting for sure! This one could be blown up--huge--on a wall. |

I don't blame you for wanting to make the leaves look more "October", but I agree with the others that the path got lost in the warm tones. I really enjoyed the look that pencil filter added to the scene, though! Maybe you could strike a happy medium and just change a few of the foreground trees to yellow tones and let the ones back near the path's curve remain green? |

This reminds me of a style from the late-1800's. The linen texture and muted colors and leaves surround the bird gracefully and the filigree work adds a sophisticated old-fashioned touch and add a sense that the bird is hidden away in a tangled bower and that the viewer is privileged to catch this full glimpse of it. |

This painting raises the Guinea fowl from a nicely-shot wildlife image to an exciting and fun, eye-catching painting, Gerhard. You are really developing a new style here. |

You really captured a scene and held our attention on the battling horses with this one, Nancy! The natural muted colors do justice to the subjects and you had the right idea to get the others to blur into the background to give the viewers the setting, yet not distract us.
It was great to see you at the Conference! |

I like the soft background, yet how you maintained the reflections in the water. Also, she is well-placed in the composition. I agree with Jeanine and Elinor that some sharpness in the colorful subject would make her even more eye-catching.
Oh, by the way, I kept running into your name at PSA Conference in the Gallery print entries. Congratulations on all those shots! |

Well, you've all given me some considerations of things to work on to improve the painting. Thanks for the comments, which I plan to put to use. |
