It's as though you somehow changed the lighting subtly to add more depth, Jeanine. It looks just great! (By comparison, the attractive sharp original shot now seems so flat.) |

The subject's pose certainly catches the eye. I'm glad you maintained the reflection on the stage when you added the textures to enhance the painting. The toned-down brightness in the dancer looks a lot more natural than the spotlit original. It seems like the final product is an interesting collage and the upper and lower frames add a good finishing touch, where the silhouetted heads were distracting. |

Gerhard, I like the lush colors in the water and rocky shore. Also the squiggly brush lines in the sky add a flattering texture to complement the water scenery. (By the way, Gerhard, I'm glad I got to see your wildlife in Africa pictorial series! Great work.) |

You had a good idea to combine the images before making a painting. I liked the use of Topaz Expressions on the scene, although apparently the family dog no longer looks as doggish after the filter and I guess is what Elinor refers to as the "dark area". You might want to work on his head a little to bring back some detail. I really like the gradient of the cloudless blue sky in both the original shot and the painting. |

Cyril, I like the swirlyness of the paint and the brighter "O'Keefe" colors in the flowers and elsewhere. I think Gerhard is right about the background (behind the curtain), which competes with the foreground subject. It is begging to be blurred a bit, while the right foreground got washed-out too bright with Topaz Impression. My eye tends to go to the little sign leaning on the vase, which is now blurred-out and illegible. I think you succeeded in getting the desired effect in the flowers, but the filter's effects could be masked away a little if on a separate layer so the rest of the image would not be affected so much. |

Elinor, I like the final image where faint touches of red have bounced into the dark corners to complement the enlarged cherry. Now that it's well-cropped, there's nothing to pull the eye from the vivid object and the golden background is flattering. Nice and simple and elegant. |

I hadn't considered obliterating the number, but that's a good suggestion. Thanks. |
