56 Aug 17 Reply Usually the best time to shoot Infra-red is when photographers often put their cameras away for a few hours: mid-day, when it's super bright. However, down in the Riverwalk area was full of shadows. (As dark as the original seems, it actually came out better than most of what I shot in that location.) Aug 12th
56 Aug 17 Comment Yes, welcome, Cheryl! Your first effort turned out beautifully. I much prefer the soft hair-like light green background to the very dark green contrasty leaves of the original. I'm guessing it was the "mixer brush" you mentioned that was used to achieve that effect.(?) The flower color really changed from an over-saturated neon-like red to a watercolory hue and now those little spots at the base of the pistil show up much better. The only thing that I would change would be to bring some medium green into the white stem and leaf at the lower left/bottom. I don't know why, but that part slightly distracts my eye from the flower at present. Aug 10th
56 Aug 17 Comment I particularly like what you did to texturize and darken the sky rather than cropping it off. Also, I agree with Cyril (and you) that those dead branches had to go. Much better to have more yellow wildflowers to lead the eye into the image. Now it makes me want to "follow the yellow...road" from the foreground into the distance, walking through the flowers. Glad that area got enough rain! I also liked it that you lightened the dark "hole" at the lower right, which had seemed to compete with the colorful flowers. I notice that you and Cyril have photos with VERY similar colors this month: greens, yellows, purples, & blues. (Guess I didn't "get the memo." ;-) Aug 10th
56 Aug 17 Comment This was inspiring and I loved those rich colors, which I assumed were changed by Topaz. I was surprised to see they were the same in the original: purples, greens, blues and yellows. I've never seen such an amount of vegetation in a waterfall. The original, while stunning in itself was brought into the paint realm with the variety of textures that softened some areas and brought up the energy in the foliage and rivulets. You got such a perfect shot that you didn't have to remove any distractions. Nice job, Cyril! Aug 10th
