Going in the opposite direction, what do you think of a dark background? |

Such a nice photo. Love the subject and the surrounding landscape. I am glad you cloned out the white sign on the wall. I really like the muddy splash against the wall, but I find the white wave on the bottom a little distracting. Since it is so bright, it pulls my eye down there for a second. I would suggest cloning it out. All in all, a very nice image. |

You caught good expressions on the children. Unfortunately, for me, there is a disconnect between the children and the train. They are too far apart and it looks like two photos to me rather than one. Like David, I am not fond of the color hue. Sorry! It was a good idea. |

Well captured and a well focused shot. You timed it well. I like the blurred background which helps your main subject stand out. My only minor suggestion is to crop just a little off the left side, but still leave room for him to move into. It might minimize the brown area in the upper left corner. |

You have a beautiful image and I like it in monochrome. I agree with the others that the border detracts a little from your photo. That border seems like one for a nostalgic photo and this is timeless. |

You caught the action quite well. It is an interesting moment in time. All of the children are engaged in the activity. I'm not sure why you chose to blur all the children except two. I think having all of them in focus would make a much stronger image. |

An interesting and unusual mailbox. I think James' edit help eliminate some of the distractions in the very busy background. |

You have a good eye to see the artistic possibilities in this scene. I think monochrome was the best choice. Nicely seen and nicely captured. While I like James' crop, I also like your wider scene. I lightened the stairs and lighting right above them a little to really draw the eye in. I also added a few highlights to give it more demension (I think!). |

A lovely rose with lovely lines. The details in the petals are good, however, the overall image appears a little soft to me. I do like Mary Ann's contrast edit. |

The reflections are so interesting. You have nice tones, contrast and clarity. Monochrome was the best choice for this image. The only thing I could suggest is to crop in from the right or fill the bright rectangle with black to eliminate the brightness at the border. Nice job! |

What a great landscape photo! Your shutter speed was perfect to catch the motion of the water and make the water silky while preserving some detail. Mary Ann's crop is good and works, but so does your wider view. The only small detail I would change is the triangle of white sky above the waterfall. I would either clone in dark foliage or crop down a touch to eliminate it. Nice job! This may be one of my favorits of yours. |

Nice composition and textures. For me, it is a too bright, however, I do like the shadows. They give it interest. I added more detail, contrast and a slight vignette, as well as darken it slightly. |

Wonderful details and texture. With that said, I think there needs to be a focal point (at least for me). Maybe a bug or single leaf. As it is, it lacks interest. |

What a wonderful opportunity you have. You did an excellent job of capturing the details of the driver and car and his thughtful emotion. I bet he would love this photo. I wouldn't change anything. |

Great idea and I love your rich colors. You have nice clarity and exposure. Looks like the a from the first la got pushed to the top of the ornament. I think you could fix that. Once you do that, I think you have next year's Christmas card! |
