PSA has a journalism competition quarterly and it is free. Look on the PSA home page under the Divisions tab and then click on Photojournalism - PJD for Individuals - Quarterly. Good luck! |

You capture a good moment. It tells the story of today's society - I'm guilty too! Very nice details and even though the background is busy, I focus in on your subjects. In fact, the business speaks to our world with so many distractions going on around us, but we focus on our phones, shutting everything else out. You should enter this in photojournalism. |

I like your depth of field, with the foreground and birds in focus and the background nicely blurred. I also light the birds positioning and that they are slightly off center. Very nice muted colors. |

I am drawn to old buildings and cars, so I can see why this is so appealing to you. You have very nice detail and the foreground is also interesting with good details but it doesn't take away from the fence. Technically, very well done. It would have been great to have a cat or rabbit sitting in front. |

Wonderful detail and clarity! I also like that the back leaf is so nicely blurred. That really helps the dragonfly stand out. I agree with the suggestions to crop. You could easily make this a square. If you are not entering this in a nature competition, I would suggest cloning out the light gray diagonal stem. If you are, the closer crop on the right would eliminate some of it. Nicely done. |

I agree with David, that I would like to see more details in the cow, which is, for me, the focal point. I like the sky very much, but the image is a little too "flat" for my taste. It may be because the contrast is a little too heavy. |

Great action shot where you captured nice expressions. The clarity and focus are excellent. I don't have any suggestions for improvement and hope you enter it in a photojournalism competition. |

You have nice details in the hat and monochrome is definitely the way to go for this subject. You may want to add a bit more contrast to the hat and darken the background a little more. I'm not sure if it is because you zoomed in so much, but there is a dark halo around the hat. |

I like this very "contrasty" image. You show off the darks and whites very nicely with good tones in between. I like the monochrome better than the color. It has both an abstract and moody quality to it. |

Excellent details and contrast. Adding the smoke/steam really enhances the image and it looks very natural. I like the diagonal lines of the track and train and would not crop the track at all, however, I think it is a stronger image to crop off the people on the left. I find my eye leaving the train to look at them and see what they are doing. On my monitor, I see a darker "smudge" above and to the right side of the smoke or steam. Otherwise, a very strong technical rendering of this train. |

Nice details and exposure of a very beautiful work of art. I think the symmetrical composition works well for this subject. Cutting the bottom of the doors off does bother me a bit, but I am intrigued by the beautiful details. |
