Wonderful soft, blurred background and sharp flowers. The hummingbird is a little soft, but that show movement to me. I think this is a very unique shot; different from other hummingbird images. You caught an interesting moment in time. Keep the spider. |

I like the moment you caught except I wish the girl on the left wasn't covering her face. I think your crop is good and shows a wide view of the surrounding environment. I like the gritty look which really portrays the city. You have good details, I really like the reflection of the fire escape in the window. My only suggestion is to clone out the empty flag pole. For me, it is a little distracting. I like all the other lines - busy like the city. |

I really like the colors and moment you caught here. I think your clarity is really good and I like the son on his left side. My only suggestion is to lighten the right side just a little. I like Richard's version too. |

I think you did a nice job of stopping the action and capturing fairly good detail. Your exposure is good. However, I'm not sure what the focal point is. I find my eye wandering about the frame without a place to rest. The cut-off people in the top row bother me. |

Very good focus and contrast in this image. The lights really sparkle against the dark background and I too like the Ferris wheel within a Ferris wheel! I have to side with those who find the people distracting. I would either clone or crop them out. |

Great time of the day for this shot. You did a lot of work and it paid off with this lovely view. The river is a nice lead in to the frame, bringing my eye right to the skyline and bridge. The colors are lovely and you handled the HDR very nicely. I like Ed's straightened version. Leaning buildings always distract me. Nice job! |

Thanks for the comments and yes, the bird was alive! We have a World Bird Sanctuary in St. Louis and this was a photographer's camera day. They brought the birds out to a natural habitat and kept the distractions to a minimum. The bird was tethered to a worker, but the strap didn't show much. |

I applaud you for trying something creative. However, it doesn't work for me. I would like to have more details in the mushroom and the bright swirls surrounding it are distracting to me. Sorry. |

I also like the flame in the color version. You did a great job of stopping the action with good details in the truck. I would like to see more of the tires if you had them in your original shot. I would crop the right so that semi-circle of sky isn't there as its brightness pulls my eye out of the frame. |

Chuck, I like your first redo version, but I would clone out the sliver of background in the upper right. It's fun to get out of the document only box! |

You've done it again! You have the race car perfectly in focus and sharp, and the background with a great motion blur. I think both versions look good, but also prefer the monochrome one. |

Your tonal quality and clarity are excellent. While both versions are great, I prefer the monochrome version. In this portrait, I like that she is not looking directly at you. I see that you added catch lights in her eyes and that really adds to it. For my taste, I would crop about half of the background to the right, still leaving some negative space. |

I like this shot very much. Really like the mist. For my taste, I like the color version better because of the tones, especially in the water. |

The lighting is wonderful and I love the soft swirls of the icing. I don't think you could improve on the crown. I think the lighting is perfect, giving it just enough sparkle. You have nice clarity and exposure. My only suggestion is to make the background on the top, all dark rather than the purple. The shadows make me wonder what is there. |

Nelson, you are really showing off your creativity! This makes an interesting abstract with nice detail, contrast and "flow" of design. I, too, think this would be a great monochrome image. |

Thank you for your comments. I never noticed the distraction of the bright leaf outline in the upper left, so I'm glad you pointed it out. I have corrected it and am going to submit it to my camera club for competition this week. |

The cactus has wonderful lines and colors. I like the details of the needles and water drops very much. Your post-processing choices and handling are very good. I wonderif there is a way that you can bring back some of the color to the top of the cactus. To me, it seems blown-out in spots. I would also suggest darkening down the upper left corner. It brightness pulls my eye up and out of the frame. |

I really like this, Marcella. Your background is nicely blurred and I think the lighter color shows off the Gecko. I do not think that the leaves are not distracting, in fact, I like that they provide context for a real life scene. The tilt gives the plant and gecko a nice diagonal which really adds to the composition. I do not think that eliminates it from nature. I think this image would do quite well. Very nice job. |
