Nice color in the sky and wonderful grey clouds. The image is nicely framed by the tree silhouettes on either side. I agree with Sarah, that I would like to see detail in the foreground and a center of interest where I can rest my eye. I am distracted by the rectangle object in the right crash-point which isn't distinct enough to be a focal point. |

I think you are right, Gene. How is this? |

Sarah, you are right that the left side is a little crooked. I will fix that. And yes, I set up these shots for the most part. |

I would try cropping half the distance from the flower to the bottom of the frame. I forgot to mention that I like that the flower is slightly off-center. |

You did a great job isolating the Iris from the background, leaving no doubt where you want the viewer to look. The details are lovely and you show them well without over-sharpening. You may consider cropping a little more off the bottom. Nice job. |

Your monochrome image is definitely stronger. You did a great job of lessening the shadows on the faces of the front statues. I'm not usually a fan of lighter vignettes, bit in this cases it really works. |

Your lighting is wonderful in a situation that I sometimes have trouble getting the right balance and color cast. You are right that the expressions are wonderful and convey a good mood for all. My only concern is the row of girls in the black behind your subjects. They "half faces" bother me. I would be tempted to fill in the background with black. |

What a darling picture of Louie. You caught the catch-light in his eyes. His nose and right eye are very sharp and then the sharpness falls off a little, but I think that is fine. His fur looks so soft and natural. I would suggest that you clone out the brighter red area in the top right side and the thread crosses on the lower right side of the tablecloth. They pull my eye from your adorable subject. |

Thank you, Don. After looking at it posted, I lightened the background (not black any more) so you could see the side of the drawer that the shell was leaning on. |

Great composition and I really like the antique look and framing effect. The tone fits the image well. It appears very grainy on my monitor, but maybe that's the look you were going for. |

Very sharp, with great exposure. I, too, am bothered by only a small portion of the door showing. I think you either need to include the door (which may be interesting since it looks like one side is open) or crop it out completely. I feel that words in an image can sometimes be distracting and in this case they dominate the image for me. An overall shot may have had more interest. |

Another wonderful skating image! I am in awe of how you can stop the motion, keeping your subject so sharp. Excellent work! |

Great subject! I especially like the way you framed the building with the trees. You have nice tonal values, as well. My suggestion is to straighten up the house. I find it leaning quite a bit to the left. In my visual feedback, I went into PS Edit - Transform - Skew and straightened it some and then cloned out the three signs. |

Excellent landscape. The rocks in the foreground add interest and perspective. The clouds and fog add a special feeling to it. My only suggestion is to crop some off the right side so the rocks are not so centered. |

I like your monochrome treatment of this scene. You were able to maintain detail in the glacier and surrounding rocks, and your sky adds to the overall image. I like your composition of the sky not in the halfway mark. |

Thank you for your thoughts. I am beginning still life photos, so any advice is welcome. My thoughts on this still life were: textures and lighting. |

The lighting is wonderful and gives the snail a translucent look. I also like the diagonal line of the plant and snail in the frame. I agree with Janet that the top could be cropped. |

I agree with Jessica that the background is distracting my attention from the flower. I am not sure where you want my eye to settle. I think a close up of a portion of the flower would bring more of a focal point for me. |

The lines of the leaf and flower are so graceful and beautiful. Your lighting is gorgeous, too. An overall dreamy feel to it. Would look great framed with a white mat. |

The texture and colors of the car certainly add to the interest of your image. It's an unexpected look that works really well. Very nice detail on the snail. I would suggest darkening the edges a little to help keep the eye in the frame. Great job. |

I really like this image! I love the way you have staggered the lengths of the pencils gives it even more interest, as does the wonderful color pencil treatment of the colored pencils! Hope you enter it in competition. It's great! |

I like the graceful lines in this image, as well as the vibrant colors. Your background is nicely blurred. My only (very minor) suggestion is to clone the white area by the leaf on the right side (unless you are using it for nature competition). |
