These plumes are so delicately graceful. I agree with Carol's comments and would like to suggest a second approach. Flip the image so the 'stick' is vertical on the right. Then tilt the image (maybe crop and tilt?) to reduce the depth of the stem/stick. I'd also play a bit with color adjusting the background blue and white squares in an attempt to eliminate what appears to be a fence.

The buds of Spring tell a refreshingly warm story. I think having a bud stand alone in an image helps the viewer appreciate its varied colors and components. A vertical crop of the left 1/4 to 1/3 of image followed by painting (retouching)everything except your main bud with the grey background of your image might make your bud even more appealing. |

Just recently read a "High-Key, Low-Key" article. Initially was going to recommend minor deepening of 'red' but the longer I looked, the more captivating it became. Thanks for the "how to" insights. |
