Hi Jennifer and welcome to our monthly get-together. Your little bugger really grabbed my interest for longer than my normal attention span. Maybe saturating the ant's colors just a tad and de-saturating the leaves might make make your main subject more prominent. I love insects too and am hoping that the preying mantis eggs in my back yard bear some 'fruit' this summer. |

Agree with you about the distractions. Without the vignette, the roots on top were more distracting but it also resulted in the dark background on the bottom. Your on the money re a different setting for the plant but that option would have put me in a different setting - behind bars. Enjoy your weekend! |

Agree. Used a vignette to darken both top & bottom and didn't like the effect on the top when it was cut back. Dark bottom was the lesser of two evils; suggestions for a different approach always welcomed. Thanks,Bob |

Denise,
You really captured my interest and imagination with this one. Immediately, I focused only on the center of the flower and because of their identical shapes and colors, I failed to recognize, for several seconds, what this was. You sure captured my interest as all really good photos will. Suggest you try increasing the brightness (not exposure) and see if the shadows can be removed. Attention grabbing and nicely done! |

Bob,
This is a very, very interesting and appealing image. Your patience and imagination certainly paid off big-time. One suggestion. Leave less black space on top or create a narrow black frame around the entire image. Nicely done, Bob! |

Carol,
Rocky sea-shores can be a photographers dream; you captured a dream. Except for the upper claw, your guy is super sharp. Higher ISO possible to allow smaller aperture? But, the slight blur of the top-side water streams create a great frame around the guy. Main subject and the variety of complimentary colors and shapes all play together making this a super image, interest wise and technically. Nature contest photo for sure. |
