Denise! Great story, great composition, great bokeh, beautifully complimentary colors. Kept staring at its eyes. The butterfly won the stare-down contest. Carol's "stunning" comment is right-on. |

Ginger, this is a very appealing traditional macro with good DOF. I like the background color as shown; suggest a slight increase in the intensity of the yellows. Would also suggest cropping the bottom enough to show spike at the top of the aloe.
I've frequently experienced your frustration with color space issues when converting to .jpeg for mailing. Before submitting your image, move it onto your desk top, open it, click tools (action bar on top of screen), then select "colors". An adjustment tool will appear on your screen. Start with the histogram (top section) using the middle slider to adjust color tones then work with the other adjustments as needed. When you finish, be sure to go back to the tool bar on the top of your screen, select "SAVE" before submitting the newly adjusted version from your desktop. Hope this helps. |

It's difficult for me to constructively comment on your hard work, Bill. I'm simply not into abstract art. That said, I don't think this could be considered macro and it may(??) be pushing the window to be classified as 'close-up' photography. And, more of a question than a comment, would breaking up the clearly defined common flow of the tulips AND colors into a composite of angles, slopes, and zig-zags careening off each other, enhance the abstract character of your image? |

The single distinctive theme, the shading variations of a single color, and the three very distinct DOF levels combine to make this is a very appealing, peaceful, and soothing composition. Brought a smile on a wintery rainy day. |
